Tortilla de Patatas, also known as potato tortilla, is a typical Spanish dish made with potatoes, onions and eggs. It’s a simple and versatile recipe that can be served either as a hot appetizer or as a main dish.

The potato tortilla is usually served sliced, accompanied by a salad or other appetizers such as roasted red peppers or meatballs. 
It is a very popular dish in Spain and is highly appreciated for its simplicity and delicious taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of potatoes

  • 1 big onion

  • 4 eggs

  • Salt and olive oil to taste

Directions

  • Start by cooking the potatoes in boiling water for about 20 minutes, or until they are tender.
  • Then remove them from the water, peel them and cut them into thin slices.
  • Then chop the onion and fry it in a large skillet with a little olive oil until it is soft.
  • Add the potato slices and fry for another 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • When the potatoes are cooked, beat the eggs in a bowl and season with salt to taste.
  • Add the potatoes and onion to the bowl with the eggs and mix well.
  • Pour the mixture back into the skillet and cook over medium heat until the tortilla is browned underneath.
  • Then carefully turn it over with the help of a plate or lid and cook for a few more minutes until it is golden on top too.
  • Is ready!
