Shrimp Breaded

Shrimp empanado is a dish consisting of shrimp covered with a mixture of wheat flour and panko (Japanese breadcrumbs) and fried in hot oil. The result is a shrimp that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

It can be served as an appetizer or main dish, depending on the size of the shrimp and the amount served. 
It can also be accompanied by a sauce of your choice, such as a yogurt sauce with fresh herbs or a mayonnaise sauce with lemon and cilantro.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup wheat flour

  • 1 cup panko (Japanese breadcrumbs)

  • 2 beaten eggs

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 400 grams of cleaned and shelled prawns

  • Frying oil

Directions

  • In a bowl, mix the flour, panko, beaten eggs, salt and pepper.
  • Place the shrimp in the flour and panko mixture and toss until they are well coated.
  • Heat oil in a pan or fryer until hot.
  • Add the breaded shrimp to the oil and fry until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Remove the prawns from the pan with a slotted spoon and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • Serve hot, with your favorite sauce.
