The FBI searched this Wednesday (1st) the beach house of the president of the United States, Joe Biden, in Rehoboth Beach, in the state of Delaware.
The searches come as part of a US intelligence agency investigation into possible mishandling of classified documents, according to Biden’s personal lawyer.
This is the third search of the US president’s residences in less than two months. In today’s operation, FBI agents did not find secret documents. They took some materials, including handwritten notes during Biden’s tenure as vice president, from 2009 to 2017.
“No document was found with mention of confidential”, said the lawyer Bob Bauer in a note, after the operation.
The investigation against Biden has tarnished the efforts of the president who intends to seek re-election to the White House.
Special Counsel Jack Smith is also investigating Donald Trump’s retention of classified documents. The former US president is under investigation for keeping about 300 documents at his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago.
The Justice Department declined to comment on the search of Biden’s beach house.
