Traditional Salpicão

Salpicão is a typical Brazilian dish, usually served as a starter or appetizer. It is made with cooked and shredded chicken, grated carrots, corn, peas, raisins, olives, straw potatoes and mayonnaise.

It is a versatile dish that can be served in many different ways, such as in sandwiches, wraps, salads or even as a main dish.

Ingredients

  • 500 g cooked and shredded chicken breast

  • 2 large grated carrots

  • 1 can of peas

  • 1 can of sweet corn

  • 200 g raisins

  • 1 chopped apple

  • 100 g chopped black olives

  • 80 g straw potatoes

  • 1 cup (200 ml) mayonnaise

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Directions

  • In a large bowl, mix the chicken, carrots, corn, peas, raisins, apple, olives and potato chips.
  • Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Add the mayonnaise and mix well.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a more colorful salpicão, you can add other ingredients, such as green peppers, sliced ​​carrots or white raisins.

    If you want a lighter salpicão, you can replace the mayonnaise with plain yogurt.

    You can also serve the salpicão with barbecue sauce or tomato sauce.
