The brutality of the images generated immediate outrage. An injured Palestinian tied to the front of an Israeli Army truck was driving in the city of Jenin in the occupied West Bank.
The city of Jenin is regularly attacked by the Israeli Army, which enters, attacks, wounds, murders and detains Palestinians to intimidate the population. This time they went further and many accuse the Army of using a Palestinian as a “human shield.”
The 24-year-old man was identified by doctors as Mujahid Raed Abbadi. In the images, which immediately went viral, Abbadi can be seen tied horizontally to the front of a military vehicle while he passes through an alley in the West Bank city of Jenin.

After the images were released, the Israeli Army said it would “investigate the incident” since the “conduct of the forces in the video does not conform to the values of the IDF.” And they also clarified that the action took place as part of an “anti-terrorist operation” to arrest suspects wanted in the area near Jenin. This is a true hypocrisy coming from the forces that kidnap, torture and murder Palestinians in the West Bank in connivance with the settlers who occupy their lands and who carry out a true genocide in the Gaza Strip and use the bombing of civilians as an excuse for their bombings of civilians. idea that they are “human shields” for Hamas or other organizations.
Francesca Albanese, the United Nations special rapporteur on the rights situation in the Palestinian territories, said the Israelis had been using Abbadi as a human shield.
“Human shield in action,” Albanese wrote on X (formerly Twitter), noting that “It is surprising how a State born 76 years ago has managed to literally turn international law upside down.”
Abbadi told the AFP news agency, while recovering in hospital, that he was beaten and injured as he left his uncle’s house in Jabriyat, a neighborhood of Jenin.
“When they arrived [los soldados]”They stomped on my head and hit my face, my injured leg and my hand,” Abbadi said. “They laughed and played while they hit me.”
He said Israeli soldiers picked him up and threw him to the ground before tying him to the front of the jeep, leaving him with “burns from his neck to the lower back,” according to a doctor at Ibn Sina Hospital.

The action of the Israeli Army is part of a policy of collective punishment that seeks to instill fear and intimidate the local population to guarantee its colonial apartheid on the Palestinians. This includes everything from the genocide carried out in Gaza to the policies of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement of millions of Gazans, to the occupation of the West Bank with kidnappings and torture, the installation of checkpoints to price their daily lives, the demolition of homes or the pogroms on Palestinian villages by Israeli settlers in common with the Army, until this last image that went around the world.
However, each of these brutal actions have been delegitimizing the actions of the Netanyahu Government and showing the colonial character of the State of Israel, generating a movement of solidarity with the Palestinian people as has not been seen in decades.
