Sometimes it seems like the market is repeating an old trick. And anyone who pays close attention will see it happen. The XRP price is showing signals that for many traders look suspiciously like the start of the historic bull run in 2017. Yet most of the market remains skeptical. Just like then.

The old pattern emerges again

Crypto analyst Steph Is Crypto set the tone. He pointed out a chart pattern that looks a lot like the “accumulation phase” that XRP went through in 2017, just before its explosive rise. Think of a long phase of low volatility, increasing volumes and increasingly higher bottoms.

We are now seeing that pattern again. And that creates excitement among experienced traders.

Institutional money is pouring in

What makes 2025 different from 2017? Big money is now participating. Since the approval of the first American XRP ETFs, millions of dollars of institutional capital have been flowing into the cryptocurrency for the first time. That gives a big boost to confidence in a long-term rally.

Back then, XRP still had to do without support from major investors. Now that tide seems to have turned.

Finally air for XRP

For years, the case between Ripple and the regulator SEC hung like a heavy fog over XRP. That uncertainty kept major investors at bay. But that fog has now cleared: the lawsuit is over, the rules are clearer.

That changes everything. For the first time, large parties also dare to step in. And that makes this cycle fundamentally different from that of 2017.

Everything points to an outbreak

The XRP price has been moving in a tight price area for weeks. Analysts speak of a ‘compression zone’ in which tensions continue to rise. If this zone is breached upwards, the price can rise rapidly. Just like we saw in 2017.

Yet the market remains cautious. Many traders no longer dare to believe in it. And it is precisely that lack of conviction, some analysts say, that only increases the chance of a sudden outbreak.
