The XIV conference of the recently named Permanent Revolution Current began with an internationalist event in Sao Paulo, where Pablo Castilla of the Spanish State and Scillia Di Pietro of Italy took the voice of the youth of the CRP. Joining them were Luca Bonfante from Argentina, Alberta Nur from France, Tabea Winter from Germany and Luno Pires from Brazil.
“The reformists want to impose on us the resignation that leads to defeat and we want to prepare the way to victory. We are not starting from scratch, we have the legacy of our entire class on our backs. We fight to recover the perspective of communism, to think of a truly free society, free of all exploitation and oppression. Today it is up to the youth to step forward and take sides, so that future revolts become revolutions.” These were the strong words with which Pablo ended the speech.
The youth session took place on Saturday at Casa Marx as a closing of the Conference. It discussed, on the one hand, the nature of the mobilizations of Generation Z and the recomposition of the student movement, especially based on the phenomenon of solidarity with Palestine. The turn to the right that is observed among disenchanted sectors of youth contrasts with the left-wing politicization among young people who radicalize their ideas against job insecurity, the destruction of the planet and sensitivity to the issue of gender and sexual diversity, as well as the migrant issue, especially in Europe.
On the other hand, especially, the meeting discussed the various construction experiences of each group and the tasks of the CRP Youth for the next period. The formation of bastions, that is, nuclei in which to concentrate forces, linked to the vanguard and influencing sectors of the masses, to be able to influence politically, was a central part of the exchange. Likewise, the cross-work of students with workers, the advancement of our political and ideological currents and the development of combative anti-imperialism with a great campaign in all countries were axes of the debate. The opening of the session was led by de Vitoria from MRT (Brazil), Leila from PTS (Argentina) and Ariane from RP (France). In addition, the very good day of discussion, reflection and work included the in-person and virtual participation of colleagues from all the youth organizations of the CRP-CI: from Argentina (Red Nac En Clave Roja), France (Le Poing Levé), Brazil (Faisca), Chile (Vencer), Germany (Waffen der Kritik), United States, Mexico (Anticapitalist Youth Group), Spanish State, Uruguay, Venezuela, Bolivia (Combate Rojo), Italy, Costa Rica and Peru.
The session resolved to promote a strong anti-imperialist policy along the lines of what was approved at the XIV Conference of the CRP-CI. In that sense, the denunciation of the imperialist aggression and military blockade of the United States and Trump in Venezuela was placed, from a class position and independent of the Bonapartist and repressive regime of Maduro, and against the attempted imperialist advance in the entire South American region. Also rejecting, in this spirit, the submission of the IMF and illegitimate debts. In turn, youth will continue to be on the front line in the face of the false truce in the Middle East imposed by the United States and Israel with the complicity of the European imperialist powers and the Arab bourgeoisies. Thus, the fight against the genocide of the Palestinian people continues from the perspective of the conquest of a free, working-class and socialist Palestine from the river to the sea. Faced with the escalation of war, the meeting agreed to deepen the campaign against imperialist militarism in Europe, which translates into rearmament, return to military service and militarization of borders while cutting back on public services,
Secondly, the meeting resolved to promote a programmatic political manifesto of the socialist and revolutionary youth of the CRP-CI centered on anti-imperialism, self-organization, class independence and unity between workers and students. At the same time that the extreme right tries to capitalize on discontent, more and more young people question the limits of institutional politics and become interested in the ideas of communism. The youth manifesto is committed to recovering the ideas of revolutionary Marxism to fight the ideological fight on all fronts, combating reformist defeatism and the Stalinist degeneration that weighs on communism.
Finally, the conference agreed to promote and coordinate ideological initiatives on the issue of the university with the aim of developing a counterproject for a university for workers as opposed to the model of a university serving the interests of large companies. Social networks for the youth of the CRP will also be created to achieve greater dissemination.
