Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin has once again shared his vision on how artificial intelligence (AI) and Ethereum (ETH) can strengthen each other in the future. According to him, the two technologies can actually contribute to more decentralization and security, instead of making people redundant.
AI and Ethereum can strengthen decentralization
On the social platform X, Buterin explained how AI does not necessarily have to be a threat to humanity, but can actually strengthen us. Rather than replacing humans, he believes AI systems can help overcome human weaknesses, for example in the areas of privacy, security and decision-making.
Buterin outlines four ways in which AI and Ethereum can complement each other in the future. First of all, he mentions the lack of privacy with existing AI chatbots. For example, if you use ChatGPT for legal advice, that conversation could later be used against you. That could change if AI runs locally on your own device, without connection to external data centers. This way your data remains private and under your own control.
AI protects users from scammers
Buterin sees a second application in improving security on the blockchain. AI models can be used as smart intermediaries that monitor transactions, flag suspicious activities or alert users to erroneous interactions with dApps. This could prevent many scams and human errors.
Such AI systems can support users in making safe choices, without requiring in-depth knowledge of blockchain technology themselves. This makes crypto more accessible and safer for a larger audience.
Ethereum bots can form their own economy
Furthermore, Buterin predicts that in the future there will be AI bots that independently perform economic tasks. Think of bots that manage on-chain transactions, conclude contracts or even hire other bots for specific assignments. This creates a fully autonomous, decentralized economy on Ethereum.
Finally, he emphasizes how AI can help overcome human limitations, such as choicelessness and limited attention. Platforms such as blockchain-driven betting still require human control. But if AI takes over that role, greater scalability and efficiency will arise.
