Villa Constitución. The workers’ response twisted the arm of the Acindar employers’ association

The week started with an attack unprecedented in recent decades, suspending the entire wire drawing sector without pay for 16 days. This was the disciplinary measure that the company took against the workers who had been resisting the implementation of new work methods that implied a dismissal from the workforce. The response to this attack was a total stoppage of production at the Acindar plant during the entire shift tomorrow and at the end of the shift an agreement was reached to roll back the suspensions and open a sectoral negotiation table.

Once again it is demonstrated that the workers are willing to face this adjustment plan of the employers and the government.

These attacks are understood as part of a political plan to discipline, intimidate and want to defeat the workers’ resistance and thus pave the way to advance rights and conquests. It is necessary to deepen this path and achieve unity among all the workers who are being attacked and give a forceful response commensurate with the attacks. General assemblies unify the criteria, involve the bases in decision-making and show the unity and firmness of the workers towards the company.

This was a first round, the fight against labor reform and to achieve a fair salary that has been “stepped on” since June 2024 is still continuing.

The community of Villa Constitución has greatly felt the recession of the last year. If a large mobilization is called to accompany the metalworkers in defense of jobs, salaries and achievements, we will be able to relive the best experiences that our fellow protagonists bequeathed to us. del Villazo.

The forceful response of the Acindar workers to the bosses’ sanctions and attacks is a clear example that the unity and strength of the working class can overthrow any attempt at adjustment. Just as this massive strike managed to twist the arm of the most powerful company in the region, that same force can be put in motion to tear down the corrupt Bases Law and the DNU of the Javier Milei government that, together with the complicit opposition, seek to discipline the workers, destroy the historical achievements and the working people as a whole.
