The Secretary of State for USA, Anthony Blinkenwould have given Israel permission to carry out attacks against humanitarian aid convoys inside the Gaza Strip, in the first days of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, according to a report published by Drop Site News (DSN). The publication cites Israeli journalists and vehicles to support the information.

Israel’s decision was made during a Security Cabinet session, held between October 16 and 17, in Tel Aviv, at which Blinken was present.

As reported by DSNBlinken participated in the discussions from Kirya, headquarters of the main Israeli military headquarters in Tel Aviv, while the Israeli War Cabinet debated the actions to be taken.

According to Channel 12 reporter Yaron Avraham, the discussion involved hours of deliberations, with drafts being exchanged between the Israeli Security Cabinet and Blinken.

“At around 3 am, an agreed text was read in the Cabinet room, in English,” Avraham reported.

O Canal 13 also confirmed the report of Abrahamdetailing that Blinken was in a room at Kirya with his advisers, while Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer interacted with him and the Cabinet.

The following day, after further discussions, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced its decision.

According to a statement issued, Israel agreed to allow the supply of humanitarian aid from Egypt, limited to food, water and medicine for civilians in the south of the Gaza Strip, on the condition that these supplies do not reach Hamas.

However, DSN highlighted the use of the term “thwart” (frustrate) in the Hebrew statement, which Israel often uses in reference to targeted killings.

The policy of “thwarting” access to humanitarian supplies to Gaza would have been conveyed to Egypt as an explicit threat to bomb aid trucks.

Israel’s Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, declared, days after the announcement, that there was a promise of monitoring and that aid trucks intercepted by Hamas would be the target of air strikes.

When questioned by DSN, Vedant Patel, spokesperson for the US State Department, called the report “absurd”. The State Department, however, did not clarify whether Blinken approved attacks on suspected Hamas fighters protecting or seizing aid convoys.

According to statistics from 2023, Israeli attacks have become the leading cause of death for aid workers worldwide, with the Israeli army responsible for more than 75% of deaths recorded since October of that year.

In the final months of 2023, attacks against aid workers in the occupied Palestinian territories exceeded the deaths recorded in the deadliest year yet.

Recently, ProPublica reported that two US government entities responsible for humanitarian assistance recommended the suspension of arms shipments to Israel due to the blockade in the delivery of aid to Gaza. The recommendations would have been ignored by Blinken, who, according to the report, would have lied to Congress about these findings.
