UNITARY DECLARATION
REJECTION OF MILITARY AGGRESSION AND THE IMPERIALIST OFFENSIVE!
NO TO THE NEOCOLONIAL COLLABORATION OF THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT WITH TRUMP’S!
DEMOCRATIC FREEDOMS TO FIGHT AGAINST NEOCOLONIAL PRETENTIONS AND FOR ALL THE RIGHTS OF THE WORKING PEOPLE!
The organizations that make up the National Meeting in Defense of the Rights of the People and other anti-imperialist currents, from a position of class independence and from any other factor of oppressive power, position ourselves in the face of the serious situation that our country is going through after the criminal attacks perpetrated by the United States and the government of Donald Trump on Venezuelan soil, and we assume the defense of the right of self-determination of Venezuela and national sovereignty, we call to reject the military aggression and imperialist offensive against the country.
1. Condemnation of the vile US military aggression on Venezuelan soil
We express our most categorical repudiation of the bombings carried out by Donald Trump’s government at dawn on Caracas and various areas of the national territory on January 3. We denounce this action as a flagrant violation of sovereignty, a criminal aggression against the Venezuelan people whose consequence is translating into the imposition of a government under imperialist tutelage in Venezuela, whose mission is to impose a colonial agenda on the nation, our oil and its strategic resources.
The widespread military attack against the country, with the murder of about a hundred people, both military and civilian, is the continuity and highest point of a systematic imperialist aggression that ranges from the various coercive measures (“sanctions”) over long years, to the military siege in the Caribbean, along with the bombings and cold-blooded murders on the high seas. They are part of an agenda of continental domination, in the resurgence of the disastrous “Monroe Doctrine”, which claims the right of the United States to impose its interests on the peoples of the continent, as an asset in its competition with other powers. The national attack and subjugation against Venezuela is thus being used as an example to intimidate other countries in the region.
We stand in solidarity with the relatives of those who died victims of the aggression, as well as with those affected by the destruction of their homes or structures of State institutions. So too with those who were emotionally affected by the bombings.
We also express our solidarity to the communities of Fuerte Tiuna, El Hatillo, El Paraíso, San Juan, 23 de Enero parishes, sectors near La Carlota, and to the people of Caracas. Mirandino and La Guaira in general, who since that day have lived in confusion and anxiety due to the possibility of a new attack.
As organizations that oppose the Venezuelan government, we strongly repudiate the bosses’ politicians who, from the pro-imperialist opposition, applaud the military aggression against the country and Trump’s plan of national submission. María Corina Machado, Leopoldo López, Antonio Ledezma and all those who have this policy deserve the firmest rejection from the Venezuelan working people.
2. Rejection of the kidnapping of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores
Despite the deep political differences with the government, we reject the kidnapping of Nicolás Maduro Moros and Cilia Flores by foreign military forces. We demand official information and respect for their human rights, and their release, since we do not in any way grant imperialism the right to arrest and judge a Venezuelan ruler, which can only be the power of our own people.
We demand respect for the principles of self-determination of the Venezuelan people. No foreign power has jurisdiction to act as a “policeman of the world” or to apply its laws extraterritorially on Venezuelan soil.
3. The Venezuelan people have the inalienable right to discuss and decide their destiny
With the brutal neocolonial offensive on the country, not only the destiny of a government is at stake, the present and future of the Venezuelan people are at stake. The most basic condition of a sovereign country is in question. What is proposed is that the management of national resources and the fruit of national labor will be done in Washington from the offices of the president of the United States, in his meetings with American magnates and those from other countries. An unprecedented historical setback.
It is unacceptable that the working class, the youth and the popular sectors of the country are put on the sidelines! We demand full democratic freedoms to discuss and fight against the insolent neocolonial claims on the country. The right to hold assemblies free of coercion in places of work, study and in communities, to debate the situation and define the steps to respond to the purposes of national submission. Free right to assembly and demonstration.
4. We do our repudiation of imperialism from a truly democratic and left-wing opposition to the Venezuelan government
Our condemnation of imperialist aggression does not imply political support for the leadership that has held power or for the collaborative government implemented after the intervention of the United States. We agree in pointing out that:
● The government has carried out a brutal economic adjustment that totally destroyed the rights of the working class won in years of struggles. To the drastic adjustment of the government to pay the foreign debt, imperialist coercive measures (“sanctions”) were then added, which sought to suffocate the already in crisis national economy, deepening the hardships, the government’s policy has discharged the consequences of the entire crisis on the rights of the working class and the living conditions of the people, while on the other hand the interests of the property classes inside and outside are preserved, generating increasingly greater social inequality: for the businessmen and employers everything, for the workers nothing, that has in fact been the government’s logic. Therefore, it is urgent to rescue salaries and pensions, reestablishing social benefits and restitution of union and labor rights taken away.
● Likewise, we question the persistent situation of imprisonment of people who are militant or not for political reasons. These repressive mechanisms used by the government contributed to deepening its authoritarian drift. Mechanisms that must be repealed, such as the Law of Hate.
● The releases that are taking place under the pressure of imperialism deserve solidarity and popular mobilization to accelerate this process and grant full freedom to all those released.
● We demand the recognition of all the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people; Therefore, the full freedom of political prisoners must be accelerated and the demands of family members, social and political organizations that have fought for their release must be met, and the pain caused to thousands of Venezuelan families who are facing this harsh and unjust situation must be mitigated.
● Arbitrary arrests and searches, forced disappearances and searches without a court order by police forces and parapolice groups must immediately cease.
● We denounce that there is unacceptable opacity regarding the response of the national defense systems and the real impact (victims and damages) of the January 3 attacks. We demand that the current government of Delcy Rodríguez explain the facts with complete transparency, as well as that the people be informed about the identity of those murdered in this criminal attack, and that they be informed about the structural damage, its costs and the estimates of the effects on the population.
● As an essential element, we demand that the minimum wage be restored as a right to the Venezuelan working class, as established in article 91 of the CRBV, and other emergency measures to recover decent living conditions for the entire population.
5. We oppose any type of government supervised by the United States
Within the framework of the brutal attack and imperialist military extortion, the Trump government has been imposing drastic measures for its management of the country’s resources, which have been submissively accepted by the Venezuelan government. “Collaboration” and “cordiality” with imperialism are the guidelines proposed by the government of Delcy Rodríguez, facilitating the neocolonial advance, practically like a government supervised by the United States to deliver our oil and other natural wealth of the country.
We reject any type of cooperation with Washington’s impositions, whether from how they intend to impose on us the management of the national oil industry and the rest of the Venezuelan natural and energy resources, to the control of the national economy and international relations.
We warn about the subjection of the Venezuelan government with its collaboration and “cooperation” with Trump to deliver our oil and other natural and energy wealth of the country.
6. Call to the Venezuelan people and international solidarity to mobilize, a mass and internationalist response is necessary
Trump arrogantly tries to override the Venezuelan people and their history of independence and anti-imperialist struggle, proclaiming himself “Interim President of Venezuela”, imposing abusively colonialist pressures on our nation.
Now more than ever we have the urgent and urgent need to work for the unity of the working class and the exploited Venezuelan people around their class interests, and for the rescue of national sovereignty.
The organization and mobilization of the people and the working class is essential to overcome the imperialist domination that is intended to be imposed on us. For this reason, we must recover the possibility of holding assemblies and promoting meeting spaces where the Venezuelan people participate, who clearly oppose interventionism, where what has happened is discussed, and a series of demands are raised to resolve the crisis from the popular sectors and the working class.
In these times we must prepare to develop different and effective forms of struggle in defense of national sovereignty and the rights of our people, denouncing and organizing against everything that involves the delivery of oil, mineral, natural resources or foreign tutelage.
The fate of Venezuela should not be decided between negotiating leaders or under the impositions of Washington, but through the sovereign will of its people.
We urge the Venezuelan working people, the people of Latin America and the democratic forces of the world to demonstrate against this military aggression. The way out of the crisis must be working-class and popular, rejecting both Trump’s neocolonial interventionism, as well as the continuity of a model that sustains and privileges the interests of businessmen of any national origin, of the rich and new rich, by suppressing the economic, social and political rights of the working masses.
All of Latin America is under threat and our people must unite to confront and stop the American invader, its new forms of colonization and the extension of its imperialist interests over Latin American nations. We call for the broadest mobilization in Latin America and within the United States itself. In that sense we propose a great international mobilization capable of stopping imperialist aggression. To the youth, the working class and the progressive intelligentsia of the United States, we call on you to resolutely oppose your own imperialism.
Yankee imperialism out of Venezuela and Latin America!
Withdrawal of the Yankee military encirclement of the coasts of Venezuela!
For full democratic freedoms to fight against Trump’s neocolonial pretensions and for all the rights of working people!
No to national delivery!
For the restitution of the rights of the working class!
