China’s advance in the implementation of the “Made in China 2025” (MIC2025) strategy in the last ten years has generated new alerts in Washington. A US Congress panel highlighted on Thursday that the country can be behind the Chinese advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and humanoid robotics.
During an online audience entitled “Made in China 2025 – Who is winning?” Analysts asked Washington to strengthen technological ties with allies and flexes visa rules for Chinese Stem professionals.
“Beijing destroyed the myth that China can’t innovate – that she can only borrow and steal technology,” said Liza Tobin, director of Garnaut Global during the audience.
In a written testimonial, Tobin warned that the US is not prepared for a prolonged conflict with China, noting that the American defense industrial base depends on critical rival inputs, including rare land minerals and advanced electronics.
The MIC2025 strategy, launched by China in 2015, seeks self -sufficiency and innovation in 10 strategic sectors.
According to South China Morning Postthe country has reached 86% of its goals until April. Tobin warned that the US is in danger of losing the next industrial revolution, driven by AI convergence with physical industry.
