United States Air Forces made new attacks on Yemeni territory on Friday, 21, reaching targets in two provinces of the country, according to local correspondents.
The bombing occurred in the districts of AT Tuhayta, located in the province of Hodeidah, in southwest of Yemen, and Al Asayid, in the province of Saada, to the north.
According to Al Mayadeen channel, the attacks are part of a series of military actions coordinated by Washington, which has intensified its air presence in the region since the beginning of the week. The targets included strategic areas, close to administrative zones and population centers.
On the night of Wednesday, 19, US war planes held bombing against the capital Sanaa and two other provinces: Saada and Al-Bayda. Reports indicate that attacks on Sanaa have reached areas near the Ministry of Communications and the postal authority in the northern sector of the capital.
According to Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in Al-Bayda, the attacks were directed to the Al-Sawadiyah district. In Saada, the bombings reached areas near the city, without detailed specification on the targets.
Iemenite state news agency Saba reported that one of the bombing in the Al-Thawra district in northern Sanaa reached an unfinished construction for events, located in a residential neighborhood. There is still no information on victims or collateral damage.
The most recent attacks occur after an offensive carried out by the United States last Tuesday (18), which was targeted by the provinces of Hajjah and Sada, in the north and northwest of the Yemeni territory.
The intensification of military actions comes after statements by the Anso Allah movement leader, Sayyed Abdul Malik al-Houthi, who reiterated the position of the Iemenites Armed Forces in support of the Palestinian cause. In a speech, the leader stated that “you are not alone”, addressing the population of the Gaza Strip.
Since the beginning of the military campaign led by Washington, the United States government has justified actions in response to attacks by armed groups in Yemen against US and allied interests in the region.
The climbing of attacks occurs in parallel to the announcement of new measures by the Iemenites Armed Forces, which resumed the blockade to vessels associated with Israel.
The block includes ships with direct or indirect bonds with Israel that travel through the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, Bab Al-Mandeb Strait and Gulf of Aden.
After successive attacks against Yemeni territory, US vessels were also included in the list of targets of the Yemeni forces, expanding the scope of operations in the maritime sector.
The actions of the Anso Allah movement have been pointed out as part of a pressure strategy on foreign military presence in the region.
The posture adopted by the group includes naval operations and restrictions on maritime traffic of commercial and military vessels linked to nations considered adversary.
Regional security experts have evaluated that climbing in the conflict between the United States and Yemeni forces may have direct impacts on commercial routes and international maritime safety, especially in the Red Sea navigation zones, through which a significant part of global trade travels.
To date, the US government has not submitted new official statements detailing the objectives of the latest air operations. No information on damage, civil or military victims, or plans for the continuity of the actions was also disclosed.
Yemeni authorities, in turn, have denounced the attacks as unilateral actions and without international support. Representatives of the Anso Allah movement classify the offensive as an attempt to contain the country’s performance in supporting Palestinian resistance movements.
The continuity of bombing raises tension in the region and increases the risk of expansion of conflict on multiple fronts. The Military presence of the United States in the Red Sea and adjacent areas is still contested by local leaders, while the US government maintains the justification for protecting its maritime routes and strategic allies.
International organizations have not yet spoken out about this week’s developments in attacks. There is no official confirmation on mediation initiatives or attempts to cease fire in the short term.
The situation remains unstable, with the possibility of new clashes in the coming days, as both sides maintain positions of military climbing and hardening of actions in the region.
