It can’t have escaped your notice: On Saturday, former President and current Republican candidate Donald Trump escaped a fateful assassination attempt. He was targeted for assassination during a speech in Pennsylvania.
Within seconds, he was standing up and clenching his fist, a sign of the former president’s resilience. It has also now been announced that he will still be attending the Bitcoin (BTC) Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. This was reported by David Bailey, one of the event’s organizers, via X on Sunday. The Bitcoin conference will take place from July 25 to 27.
Trump is not fooled
Bailey tweeted that he had spoken to “the President’s team,” referring to Trump, and that the former president was “in good spirits and looking forward to seeing everyone in Nashville.”
The annual Bitcoin conference is considered one of the most prestigious gatherings of Bitcoin enthusiasts. Last year, the conference in Miami attracted around 12,000 attendees from all over the world. This year, around 20,000 people are expected to attend in Nashville.
Who would have thought a decade ago that a presidential candidate would attend a Bitcoin conference? Yet, this is the reality. Trump’s presence is no big surprise. Over the past year, Trump has increasingly spoken out in favor of the crypto industry. Crypto could be a decisive issue for the election results in November.
Crypto and US Politics
Last year’s Bitcoin conference featured several pro-crypto political voices, including independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), and Republican Miami Mayor Francis Suarez. This year, Kennedy and Lummis will be participating again.
As mentioned, Donald Trump is increasingly targeting the so-called crypto voters during his campaign. In May, he began accepting crypto donations. Last month, Trump specifically expressed his support for the Bitcoin mining industry. He stated that he hopes that “the remainder of the 21 million Bitcoin will be mined in the United States.”
