In Washington, the wind of change in favor of crypto seems to blow, with Donald Trump as a driver. Nevertheless, there is now unexpectedly a kink in the cable: Bo Hines, director of the White House Crypto Council for eight months, lays down his function. The step comes at a time when the United States profile itself as a world leader in digital currency.
Hines leaves Crypto Council after a short term of office
Hines was appointed by Donald Trump in December 2024 to lead the new advisory body. He now returns to the private sector. On X he called the collaboration with AI and “Crypto Czar” David Sacks “the honor of his life” and he praised their joint efforts to make America “Cryptoh capital of the world”.
A successor has not yet been appointed. According to crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett, current deputy director Patrick Witt is mentioned as contender. Witt has no direct experience with the crypto industry, but a background in policy functions within the government.
Trump continues pro-Crypto course
The White House Crypto Council was established to coordinate policy on crypto currency, blockchain and digital assets. This broke Trump with the policy of the BIDEN administration, in which the SEC Supervisor Entitled against large crypto companies.
Trump has taken major steps since he took office. In January he signed the law for a National Bitcoin (BTC) reserve. In July the approval of the Genius Act followed, which gives companies clear frameworks to launch their own stablecoins. This law must stimulate innovation and protect consumers.
With the departure of Hines, the question is whether Trumps will continue to continue ambitious crypto agenda. Investors are looking forward to the race that the White House will sail in the coming months.
