Travala, the Web3 reis platform, has extended its payment options for hotel bookings through a collaboration with Trivago, the popular meta search engine for accommodations. Thanks to this new collaboration, users of Trivago can now book more than 2.2 million accommodations via Travala, with payments in crypto currency such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and more than 100 other tokens.
More and more travel companies are embracing crypto
Juan Otero, co-founder and CEO of Travala, states that this step fits within a broader trend in which more and more travel companies are embracing alternative payment methods such as crypto. “The growing acceptance of crypto means that it is only a matter of time before other major players integrate crypto payments,” says Otero.
Trivago, active in more than 190 countries and with more than five million hotels worldwide, now also offers the possibility to pay with crypto. The collaboration with Travala opens the door for Trivagos more than three million monthly users to use crypto for their bookings. Customers who book via Trivago via Crypto also receive extra rewards in the form of Bitcoin or Travala’s Ava (AVA) Loyalty Stokens.
Belang emphasizes of blockchain technology
This expansion comes shortly after Travala launched his Bitcoin and AVA treasury reserve plan on December 1, 2024, after the platform had passed the $ 100 million gross annual turnover border. Travala continues to distinguish itself from traditional booking platforms by integrating crypto prices and rewards into their loyalty program.
Experts emphasize the importance of blockchain technology for the further acceptance of crypto in the travel industry. Justin Hyun from The Open Network Foundation points to the importance of user -friendly apps, such as Telegram Mini Apps, which can contribute to the massive adoption of crypto currency.
