$17.75 Million in Digital Assets, But No Bitcoin?
Trump’s crypto portfolio, worth a total of $17.75 million, includes some notable picks. The largest holding is the meme coin Trog (TROG), worth $10.81 million. Furthermore, he owns $2.03 million in TRUMP tokens, a proper name token likely developed to strengthen his influence. Ethereum (ETH) and Wrapped Ethereum (WETH) complete the top four, with $1.7 million and $1.64 million respectively.
Notable is the absence of Bitcoin in this public portfolio, which raises questions given Trump’s recent positive statements about the world’s largest cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is currently trading around $102,000 and has seen a strong rebound in recent weeks following Trump’s election victory.
Are there private wallets?
Bitcoin’s absence from his public holdings may indicate that Trump may be using private wallets or other investment vehicles that are not public. Since he has expressed support for Bitcoin in the past and privacy is an important issue for him, it is quite possible that he owns BTC through less visible channels. However, to date, no such holdings have been confirmed.
A new phase for “Trumponomics”
Trump’s open involvement in digital assets highlights how crypto plays a central role in the new phase of “Trumponomics.” His choice of smaller altcoins and meme coins can be partly attributed to airdrops and marketing strategies by crypto projects that want to leverage Trump’s fame.
