The Real Time account revealed that the audience for over-the-air channels went from 15.9 points at 8 p.m. to 3.8 points when the president began speaking in Congress. “Not even Conan saw it,” Myriam Bregman tweeted ironically.

Javier Milei was not seen. It was this Sunday night. People, as the president likes to say, changed the channel or turned off the TV. But they decided not to watch the national channel that the Government imposed to make a ridiculous campaign act and announce a 2025 Budget that has as its essential objective to guarantee payments of the external debt. An illegal and odious debt, which only brings more suffering to the working people.

In the case of Canal 13, the rating went from 5.4 points to 0.8 when Milei’s speech began. The fall was also dramatic in the case of Telefé, which lost half of its audience in a few minutes, starting at 9 p.m. When the national broadcast ended, the channels recovered their audience level.

The mockery on social media was immediate. Milei had hoped to occupy a prominent place in a prime time slot and failed to do so. Myriam Bregmana representative of the PTS-Left Front, tweeted ironically: “Not even Conan saw it”.

How much of that disinterest in listening to Milei has to do with the fall of her credibility? The question is valid. A recent report by the consulting firm Zuban-Córdoba indicated that “people believe that many of the phrases said by the president recently are lies. For example: 70.6% believe that it is a lie that “the purchasing power of retirees has skyrocketed” and an even higher percentage (76.2%) thinks that it is a lie that “water, electricity and gas rates are cheap.” The decision not to listen to the president may be linked to this factor.
