“We have not received salaries for 4 months. This has to do with what we live every day: the opening of imports is killing industries,” says a worker at the historic Ascensores Cóndor factory located in Ituzaingó.
“Today, Monday, we went to work like any normal day and we found the doors completely closed. Without anyone showing their face or any kind of explanation. This is how we found out that they fired us,” said Ezequiel Guzmán, delegate of the wholesaler Caromar, the San Justo branch, with indignation.
Similar stories are found in other factories, layoffs, suspensions, owed or frozen salaries increase in the Milei era. Under the La Libertad Avanza government, 138,573 registered private jobs were destroyed, of which 31% were positions in the manufacturing industry. The purchasing power of salaries does not recover everything lost under the Milei government.
In the face of bosses’ attacks, workers organize and resist. In Electro Part, a factory located in the Los Boulevares neighborhood, Córdoba, the workers decided to occupy the plant in rejection of the layoffs because they know that today it is them and tomorrow it is the rest’s turn.
The workers of the Frigorífico Euro of Villa Gobernador Gálvez keep the factory busy and mobilized with their families and solidarity organizations for the reopening of the plant with all workers inside and the payment of owed salaries.
The sectors in struggle cannot be left alone. We must surround the struggle with solidarity and achieve a national strike so that no family is left on the street. From the CGT there is no news of a fight plan or national strike and it maintains the truce with the Government, which wants to move forward with the labor reform.
What does the left propose?
There is another way. It is the one shown by the sectors that are fighting, those dismissed from Georgalos who achieved reinstatement and continue fighting against the company’s maneuvers or the Garrahan Hospital workers who wrested from the Government a salary restructuring and a larger budget for health.
The left and classist groups have a way out in the face of business closures and employer attacks:
