The Trump Administration this Friday began publishing files from the investigation against Jeffrey Epstein for sex trafficking. The publication comes after Congress forced the US president to sign a law, bending his arm, to make public some files that Donald Trump has resisted revealing since he came to office.

The deadline expired at midnight this Friday in the US, and the Department of Justice has begun publishing thousands of photos and call records; some with extensive censored content.

Marina Lacerda, one of the victims of sexual assault by Epstein since she was 14, declared this Friday that she wanted greater transparency from the Department of Justice and expressed her frustration that not all the files have yet been published. “Just release the files,” he said. “And stop hiding unnecessary names.” She was skeptical of the government’s claim that it seeks transparency.

The total number of records that will be released under the deadline imposed by Congress is unclear, although Justice Department No. 2 Todd Blanche said on Fox News that he expected the department to release “hundreds of thousands” of records on Friday and then several hundred thousand more in the coming weeks.

The release includes photographs, call logs, grand jury testimony and some documents and records that were already in the public domain.

The records could contain the most detailed look yet at nearly two decades of government investigations into Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women and minors.

This publication has long been pursued by a public eager to know if any of Epstein’s rich and powerful associates knew or participated in the abuse. Epstein’s victims have also sought answers about why federal authorities closed their initial investigation into the allegations in 2008.

“They can publish all the grainy photos from more than 20 years ago that they want, but this is not about Bill Clinton,” Ángel Ureña declared in a statement.

“There are two types of people here,” he said. “The first group knew nothing and broke up with Epstein before his crimes came to light. The second group continued their relationships after that. We are in the first group. No delay from the second group will change that.”
