The Supreme Court has placed the trial against the Attorney General for the filtration of an email of Isabel Díaz Ayuso’s couple: November 3 to 13, distributed in six sessions. A trial in which, in addition to Álvaro García Ortiz himself as accused, up to 40 witnesses will appear. Among them the journalists who already declared during the investigation, Alberto González Amador himself and his lawyer, and politicians such as the chief of Cabinet of Ayuso, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, or Pilar Sánchez Acera and Juan Lobato.
The trial will start that November 3 and will have tomorrow and afternoon sessions before a court of seven magistrates that will have Susana Polo as a speaker. The list of 40 witnesses covers the high positions of the Prosecutor’s Office that intervened in the case or who have some data protection responsibility, also the journalists who treated that information, members of the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard who prepared key reports of the case and also the environment of González Amador and the people linked to Moncloa and the PSOE who also knew their confession those days.
The attorney general, the only accused in the case, will be the last to declare. The Court has rejected, on the other hand, several testimony requested by the accusations: neither Minister Óscar López nor members of the Juan Lobato team when he was general secretary of the Madrid PSOE nor Santos Cerdán, then Secretary of Organization of the Party.
On the part of the Prosecutor’s Office will appear two prosecutors who were charged in the case: Julián Salto, who denounced the Ayuso couple for fiscal fraud, Pilar Rodríguez, until a few weeks ago accused of urging a plan with the attorney general to filter the mail, and Diego Villafañe, who also became imputed. Almudena Lastra, Chief Prosecutor of Madrid, whose testimony is considered key by accusations, and several prosecutors responsible for data protection and disciplinary aspects together with two of their press officials will also appear.
Up to 12 journalists will also be called to testify, information professionals already declared during the investigation against Judge Ángel Hurtado. Several of them explained that they had access to this email or the content of González Amador’s defense negotiations before this information came to the Attorney General on the night of March 13, 2024.
González Amador and his lawyer, Carlos Neira himself, will also appear in addition to Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, who will have to explain how he leaked to the press the bulge that originated the first movements of the Prosecutor’s Office to collect the emails of the case. With them, the protagonists of the case of the case that served the judge to aim at the Moncloa Palace: Juan Lobato, who received that mail on the morning of March 14, Pilar Sánchez Acera, who made it arrived, and Francesc Vallés, then Secretary of State for Communication.
