The PSOE me too has only just begun. After the complaints against Francisco Salazar, the general secretary of Torremolinos and the president of the Lugo Provincial Council, a new case of alleged sexual harassment is hanging over Ferraz and now targets Javier Izquierdo, secretary of Studies and Programs of the Federal Executive. The party has imposed an informative lock, but elDiario.es has been able to learn that the senator and former delegate of the Government of Castilla y León left all the organization’s internal WhatsApp groups this Thursday and that, to the ears of the management, all kinds of rumors had reached about alleged inappropriate behavior with women. At the moment, what is known is that no complaint against him had reached the anti-harassment channel, which does not mean that it has not been registered through another means or verbally escalated to another member of the federal leadership.
Izquierdo announced on his X channel that he is leaving all public and organic positions in the party and that he has announced this to the Federal Executive.
Born in Mieres (Asturias), Izquierdo was general secretary of the PSOE of Valladolid between 2012 and 2017. In the 39th Federal Congress, he was elected executive secretary of Training of the PSOE and in the 40th, responsible for Electoral Strategy and Action.
Currently, he was a senator for Valladolid and a regular member of the permanent Deputation of the Upper House, as well as spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the Housing and Urban Agenda Commission and vice-spokesperson in the Interior Commission and member in the Joint Commission for National Security and in the Joint Commission for the European Union.
He was a deputy for Valladolid in the Congress of Deputies from the XII to the
Rebeca Torró, Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, has remained silent for a week, although she is scheduled to make a public appearance this Friday. From those around them they have confirmed to elDiario.es that Izquierdo sent him his leave for professional and personal reasons and that the number 3 of the party contacted him, who without further ado confirmed the reasons that he had announced on his X account.
The Secretary of Equality and the Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has called for this Friday the Equality officials of the federations to a face-to-face meeting, which will be held in person, after the telematics they held last week due to the Salazar case that was uncovered by this newspaper and the five months of inaction of the anti-harassment office. The concern is greatest among the party’s cadres, who understand that, after the Salazar scandal, a trickle of complaints has begun that no one knows how far they can go, but that “cause an erosion in the credibility of the socialist project much greater than that of the corruption cases,” they acknowledge in the organization.
