At the request of Congressman Nicolás del Caño (PTS/FIT), the Frente de Izquierda Unidad presented in the Chamber of Deputies of the Nation a draft resolution to express the repudiation of the repressive, racist and human rights violating actions of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) of the United States, within the framework of the anti-immigrant offensive promoted by the government of Donald Trump.
All support to the working people of Minneapolis who resist ICE, Trump’s Gestapo, which persecutes, imprisons and kills immigrants. With a day of strikes and demonstrations in this city and in different parts of the US, resistance grows.

The text that entered the Lower House this Friday also bears the signatures of her benchmate Myriam Bregman (PTS) and Romina del Plá and Néstor Pitrola (PO/FIT) and denounces the systematic nature of the state violence carried out by ICE.
Furthermore, it is aware of the massive mobilizations that tour different American cities and rejects the immigration and security policy of Donald Trump’s government, denouncing that it “combines the criminalization of migration, the militarization of cities and the use of federal forces, promoting persecution, arbitrary detentions, institutional violence and murders of human rights activists and observers.”
The text also expresses explicit support for the protests taking place in Minneapolis and in dozens of cities across the country, especially after the murder of Renee Good, a 37-year-old lesbian activist and mother of one son, which occurred on January 7 a few blocks from where George Floyd was murdered in 2020. As the project denounces, this crime “gave a new leap in the escalation of violence and state repression.”
In this framework, the resolution expresses its support for the day of action, strike and strike called by unions and social organizations in Minnesota this Friday, January 23, as well as the solidarity actions promoted in other cities in the United States “in defense of the rights of migrants, against institutional racism and state repression.”
The foundations of the project warn of a “repressive and authoritarian escalation” in the United States, where ICE has become “one of the main instruments of social discipline, political persecution and state violence,” with operations with openly paramilitary characteristics: massive raids, arbitrary detentions, use of lethal force and threats to human rights activists and observers.
As detailed in the text, in 2025 alone, 32 people died in ICE custody, while in December a record number of arrests was recorded: 68,440 people arrested, of which almost 75% had no criminal record. The project cites The Guardian, which noted that “December was also the deadliest month in ICE custody: six people died.”
The document highlights that the popular response to this scenario includes thousands of mobilizations throughout the country, with slogans such as “ICE out of our cities”, “Hands off Venezuela”, “No to the war for oil” and “United States out of Latin America”, and highlights the role of organized workers, neighbors and teachers to stop raids, protect migrant communities and demand the closure of detention centers and the end of their operations.
In a central section, the Left Front links the internal repressive policy of the United States with its foreign policy, reaffirming “the rejection of all forms of imperialist intervention by the United States in Latin America” and denouncing that the militarization of cities, the persecution of migrant communities and state violence within its borders are a direct counterpart of its imperialist offensive in the region.
Finally, the project warns that in Argentina, the government of Javier Milei seeks to follow in the footsteps of its American counterpart, and warns about the tightening of local immigration policy. In particular, it denounces DNU 366/25, which modifies Migration Law 25,871, and decree 941/2025, which expands the powers of intelligence agencies, pointing out that both move towards a punitive and persecutory model “in direct harmony with the ICE model.”
“From Argentina, a country with a history marked by the fight against State terrorism and the defense of human rights, it is appropriate to express a clear and categorical repudiation of the actions of ICE and active solidarity with the mobilizations and strikes that are sweeping the United States,” affirm the deputies of the Left Front.
With these foundations, they demand the approval of the project and also call to strengthen the unity of international action against racism, state repression and the imperialist offensive.
