With strong compliance, today the national university strike is being carried out throughout the country after a full week of union action measures and visibility in academic units. The call to the Government’s joint table is no coincidence, which also seeks to deactivate the call for the second university mobilization on October 2 in support of the University Financing Law.

In the last 8 months, cuts to universities have already accumulated 30% compared to the same period last year, while the salaries of 85% of university teachers and 60% of non-teachers are below the rates. of poverty.
Furthermore, between November 2023 and July of this year, university teachers lost 33.3% of their purchasing power, while for non-teaching workers this figure is between 50% and 60%. In addition to the claim for the recomposition of teaching and non-teaching salaries, there is the allocation of a budget item for “ad-honorem” teaching, restitution of the FONID and increase in educational scholarships.

This is why the teaching and non-teaching unions rejected this (miserable) offer, and call to continue building the university mobilization in the City of Buenos Aires and in all the Provinces of the country, in support of the University Financing Law, against the veto already announced and for a larger educational budget towards 2025.

Faced with the attacks on all workers, and the provocations of the National Government, it is necessary to deepen the measures of struggle and coordination together with the entire educational community and the different sectors that have been facing the so-called “0 deficit”; With the retirees, Aerolíneas Argentinas, health workers such as the residents and the Garrahan Hospital and the neighborhood assemblies, among others, let us build a great mobilization that from each place of study, work and neighborhood unifies our demands: “Up with the educational budget and retirements. Down with the vetoes and the entire Milei and IMF plan. No confidence in the actions of the authorities and Congress. Let’s unite all the struggles. “Struggle plan and national strike.”
