The statement arises as a result of the project presented by the Left Front bench, where the National Executive Branch is requested that said areas provide verbal reports in the Chamber of Deputies regarding the dismissal of workers that affects the normal functioning of institutions such as the that depend – among others – on the National Directorate of Sites and Spaces of Memory and the announcement of “closure due to restructuring” of the Haroldo Conti Cultural Center, in what represents a policy of emptying it to the open sky.
“They are areas that play a very important role for the entire society, as disseminators of the fight against impunity and the genocide perpetrated by the last civil-military dictatorship and as reparatory policies for victims of serious violations of Human Rights, and that are an achievement of the Argentine people,” said Vilca, and highlighted that the latest calls made by workers to defend jobs have shown the broad support that their struggle arouses in the population.
“Those of us who promoted this request for a report accompany their struggle and hereby express our solidarity in defense of their jobs and in defense of memory, truth and justice. These Sites and Spaces are the product of years of struggle by human rights organizations and organizations that had among their banners the fight against genocide and impunity. We cannot allow its dismantling,” says the project authored by Alejandro Vilca.
The initiative, which can be read below, also bears the signatures of his colleagues from the PTS, Nicolás Del Caño and Christian Castillo, Mónica Schlotthauer from IS and Vanina Biasi from the PO, who make up the Left Front benches
Although the project has not yet been referred to commissions, where it must be dealt with, it is presumed that due to the issue the project should be the responsibility of the Human Rights Commission, chaired by Sabrina Ajmechet. Although the fight against denialism, emptying and dismissals is fought in the streets, the left will insist on taking this issue also to parliament, where it hopes to have the support of the opposition blocs.
