The Roleando Figueroa government carried out this morning a brutal police operation of eviction to the Mapuche communities who were peacefully claiming the legal persons.
There are 22 people arrested, including women and two minors, Newen Antu Dumigual, who is at the Castro Rendón hospital, 13, and Melián Antu Pilquiñam at the child’s police station, 15 years old.

Jorge Nawel, a reference of the Mapuche Confederation of Neuquén, denounced the situation of the fellow detainees, who were applied an aggravated coercion position. Nawel described this “ridiculous” accusation and said that Neuquén’s judicial system “is subordinated to political power,” which, in turn, is “servile to oil companies.”
According to Nawel, this “chain of servility” seeks “scan and give the example that whoever claims will only receive a stick.” The Mapuche referent emphasized that its current demands are minimal: “We are not demanding territory, we are not demanding the right to consultation, we ask for the community of the community, it is an administrative procedure. And if they fall as a stick because we are asking for a legal personality, imagine when we have to stop in the territories.”
Nawel interpreted this situation as the message that Governor Figueroa seeks to convey: “That is the message that Figueroa wants to give, that fake that when the anthem sings is excited, he says, that the first neuquino is believed. Well, this is the neuquinity that they want to build: a neuquinity at the service of the oil companies, and that everyone who claims will put it as a stick as they did. He concluded with a warning: “Then, it is a very important message that all those who are in the fight for rights should consider. They have to know that this is the answer that this farce of democracy that we are living will give.”
Given this scenario, the response of the Mapuche Confederation of Neuquén, according to Nawel, is the same as they have always given: “to be mobilized.” The referent criticized the inaction and the “lies” of political power: “not to believe all the lies they make us, the entertainments that make us. A year and six months ago we are behind this shitting paper, and they always comforted us that the next one was going to come. What they were organizing was this: repression.”
Nawel described the current moment as a critic, where “violence is part of the everyday” and “Racial hate discourse is part of everyday life.” He rejected the idea that Neuquén is an “island” alien to national policies: “Neuquén is always sold as an island, it is not an island, an island is a fuck. Today Figueroa is following the guidelines that are drawing it milei and bullrich, and all the consolidated power. Then let’s not wait for a different treatment. We fuck the milei, but here we have a local version. He resolved the conflicts, here we have a modernized version of the MPN. ” Finally, he reaffirmed his community’s strategy: “Therefore, not to believe all that farce and know that the only tool we have so that they do not crush us as they want is to be mobilized and organized.”
