Aemet expects the general drop in temperatures and the possibility of rain in northern areas during this Tuesday to help control of fire, which already adds 300,000 burned hectares, four deaths – three in León and one in Madrid – and a dozen hospitalized people. The last injured are four firefighters fighting against the fire that Galicia ravages. 2025 is already the worst year of fires of the 21st century, with a revealing fact: the 52 great fires have burned 6,000 hectares, 2,000 more than the average of the worst fires in previous years. The government has announced that it will declare fires as severely affected areas next Tuesday.

Galicia

Seven great fires remain active in the province of Ourense where Larouco (20,000 hectares) has surpassed that of Chandrexa (17,500) and is already the largest in the history of Galicia, according to the data of the last official balance. During the weekend, this fire jumped the Sil River and reached the province of Lugo. In total, the seven spotlights have calcined 67,400 hectares. The satellite images suggest that there will be many more, although the data are provisional, since EFFIS estimates calculate the burned areas from the perimeter of the fire and may include within those limits areas that have been saved from non -forest flames or surfaces.

The president of Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, explained that the drop in temperatures has helped a bit to the control of the fires, which have gone from nine in the last part last night to seven early in the morning. The high-speed line between Galicia-Madrid continues, at this time, suspended.

The fires of Chandrexa de Queixa y Vilariño remain active, united in a single fire that reaches 17,500 hectares in the last official balance; Oímbra y Xinzo de Limia (A Granxa y Gudín, 15,000 hectares); A Mezquita-A Esculqueira (10,000 hectares), Vilardevós-Vilar de Cervos (900 hectares), Vilardevós-Moiami (500 hectares), Larouco-Sadur (18,000 hectares) and Carballeda de Avia and Beade (Vilar de Condes and As Regadas, 3,500 hectares). The controlled ones are Maceda and Vilardevós-Fumaces and the Trepa.

Castilla y León

The fires of Castilla y León continue in a complicated situation, with ten fires with the potential gravity index (IGR) 2, the maximum level of danger, and another nine more with the IGR level 1. The Ministry of Environment has prohibited almost all activity in the mountains of 35 municipalities at extreme fire risk until Friday. That includes the total prohibition of lighting fire in the mountain, using barbecue or pyrotechnic material, as well as the suspension of any authorization related to the use of fire. The use of machinery that can generate sparks, flames or electrical discharges on the mountain and in a strip of 400 meters around it, except in emergency cases or general interest, which must be previously communicated.

At the maximum level of gravity are Fasgar, Anllares del Sil, Llamas de Cabrera, Yeres, Barniedo de la Reina, Gestoso, Cain de Valdeón and Paradiña, in the province of León and Porto, in the province of Zamora.

With Level 1, Orallo, Castrocalbón, Canalejas and La Nail, in the province of León; Porcas, Castromil, Molezuelas de la Carballeda and Mahide, in Zamora and San Cristóbal de los Mochuelos and Candelario, in the province of Salamanca. The aerial media are progressively incorporated into the extinction work of these large fires from the early morning. The Junta de Castilla y León has confirmed that there are currently 5,300 people from 76 locations that are evicted from their homes on Monday morning.

Estremadura

Extremadura keeps only the Jarilla Fire (Cáceres) active, which has razed 15,464 hectares. The fire has reached Castilla y León by the high areas of the Salamanca municipality of Candelario late on Monday afternoon, although the forecast is to remain in that environment and can be controlled on Tuesday with the support of aerial media.

The rest of the fires that had worried the region, such as those of Aliseda (Cáceres), Llerena, Alburquerque and Burguillos del Cerro (Badajoz), have been stabilized, allowing to raise confinements and reopen secondary roads that had been cut.

In addition, the Board has confirmed that Aliseda’s fire in Cáceres was caused by economic interests linked to hunting.

Asturias

Asturias will continue in a situation of maximum alert to the wave of fires declared in the Autonomous Community at least until Wednesday, according to the forecasts of the Minister of Mobility, Environment and Emergency Management, Alejandro Calvo. This Monday, 15 forest fires are counted, of which eight are active, another five are controlled and two stabilized or under review.

The greatest concern is currently in the Asturian Southwest and mainly in the councils of Somiedo, Degaña and Cangas del Narcea for the fires from León.

The meteorological situation has improved and the Front of Calera has been taken for controlled, according to the data provided by the SEPA.
