During the afternoon of Wednesday PDVSA, the Venezuelan oil company controlled by the State itself, which today has Delcy Rodríguez in government as president, confirmed the negotiations with Trump to sell oil to the United States in an official statement. This is a double confirmation, both of Trump’s previous statements, and of the submission to imperialism led by Delcy Rodríguez, who has been showing several signs of willingness to negotiate with the United States.
“This process is developed under schemes similar to those in force with international companies, such as Chevronand is based on a strictly commercial transaction, with criteria of legality, transparency and benefit for both parties”, established the company in the statement released on its social networks. In the negotiations they seek to resume trade after years of international sanctions imposed against Venezuela. According to the US spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, the Rodríguez Government authorized the release of these hydrocarbons, allowing their immediate shipment to the US.
The statement comes after the statements of Trump himself, who assured that he was negotiating with Delcy Rodríguez the delivery of between 30 and 50 million barrels of oil that are already in Venezuelan deposits, a product of the military blockade established by the United States navy on the country’s coasts. Not content with that, Trump assured that the oil would be purchased at market price and that the income would be controlled by Washington for the “benefit” of the Venezuelan people and the United States.
A less than credible speech being a few days after the bombing carried out by the United States in Caracas, killing around 80 people. Trump’s imperialist vocation is such that today his navy seized two oil tankers, one named “Marinera”, which carried a Russian flag and the other called “M Sophia” with the flag of Cameroon, intercepted in the Caribbean Sea.
According to different journalistic sources, Chevron would have already loaded an oil tanker and another dozen would be on their way to Venezuela. It is one of the three large companies interested in the business that Trump intends to promote with the country’s crude oil, one of the main reasons for carrying out his military attack. Trump plans to receive oil company executives on Friday to advance that objective.
The desire to reach an agreement with Trump on the part of Delcy Rodríguez is increasingly clear. In a previous statement she had already indicated the “vocation for peace and peaceful coexistence” and her intentions to “move towards a balanced and respectful international relationship between the US and Venezuela”, inviting the Trump government to “work together on a cooperation agenda”. All while Trump and Marco Rubio escalate in each conference their will to dominate the whole of Latin America, threatening countries like Mexico, Colombia or Greenland. A policy of agreeing and cooperating with the protagonist of the bombings, the kidnapping of Maduro and who today controls the Caribbean Sea with his navy, quickly accepting the delivery of the oil.
The enormous pressure that the United States generates against Venezuela with its enormous military deployment, including the largest aircraft carrier in the world a few kilometers from its coasts, is undeniable. Even so, the response to the attacks and threats so far was acceptance of those conditions to negotiate with Trump, without showing any predisposition to develop a broad mobilization of the working class and the great majorities to confront the imperialist attack, seeking international solidarity in all the Latin American countries that are also threatened by Trump’s boot.
