Trump can restrict access from accused of censoring US citizens

Supreme Court (STF) ministers avoided publicly commenting on the US government’s decision (USA) that intends to restrict the entry into the country of authorities accused of promoting censorship against US companies and citizens.

The measure was announced this morning by the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and, although not quoting individuals, target STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes, accused by supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro of censoring right-wing parliamentarians and platforms operating social networks.

After the announcement, Jason Miller, one of President Donald Trump’s advisers, marked Moraes’s profile on social networks and implied that the minister will be one of those affected. “Share this with someone who immediately comes to mind when you read it. Hi, Alexandre,” the advisor posted.

Arriving to participate in this afternoon’s Judgment Session, the president of the Supreme, Minister Luís Roberto Barroso, avoided making comments about the decision and said: “Nothing happened that I need to talk.”

Flávio Dino said he could not make statements about the issue. Edson Fachin, Luiz Fux, André Mendonça and Moraes did not speak either.

Investigation

The alleged participation of federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) to incite the Trump government to impose sanctions on Brazilian authorities began to be investigated by the Federal Police.

On Monday (26), Moraes ordered the opening of an inquiry to investigate whether Eduardo Bolsonaro committed coercion crimes in the course of the process and research obstruction.

The minister also authorized the testimony of former President Jair Bolsonaro to provide clarification because he was “directly benefited” by his son’s actions. Bolsonaro is a defendant of core 1 of the coup plot. Brazilian diplomats should also be heard.

In March this year, amid the trial in which Bolsonaro became a defendant, Eduardo asked for a 122 -day parliamentary mandate license and lived in the United States. Since then, Eduardo manifests himself on social networks in favor of sanctions against STF ministers and Brazilian authorities.
