Energy will increase by 2.5% while gas will increase by 2.7%. New measures that most strongly affect the working majority, sectors also hit by wage losses, unemployment and job insecurity.

The Government defined a new increase in electricity and natural gas rates in the network. It will be starting this Friday, November 1st. The first of these services will increase by 2.5% while the second will increase by 2.7% starting in November. In addition, there will be new increases in fuel prices.

The government’s objective is that these new increases are “compensated” for the population by the lower consumption that high temperatures imply. However, for millions of people, those same summer temperatures lead to the use of air conditioners, which imply a higher consumption.

This, at the same time, has as a background the open confession by government officials that there will be power outages in the summer. This is a result of the lack of investment in infrastructure by the privatized companies that manage the service.
