More and more companies are following MicroStrategy and using Bitcoin (BTC) as a weapon against inflation. This also applies to the listed healthcare company Semler Scientific, which accumulated more than 2 thousand Bitcoins last year. It will continue to adhere to its new strategy in 2025: the very first purchase of the year is already a fact.
Semler Scientific announced yesterday that it has added a total of 237 Bitcoins to its treasury. These coins were purchased between December 16 and January 10 for an average price of $98,267.
So the NASDAQ-listed company is currently slightly underwater with this investment. The Bitcoin price is currently at $96,500. But this seems to be anything but a cause for concern for the company. Of course, the coins are bought for the long term, and so these fluctuations are just noise.
Semler Scientific purchased its very first Bitcoins last May and immediately adopted the crypto as a primary reserve asset. 2024 ended with a stack of 2,084 Bitcoins on the balance sheet, but that has now increased to 2,321.
All of these coins could currently be sold for around $224 million. Since the company invested a total of $191.9 million in investments, it would then rake in a profit of just over $32 million. But as mentioned, that is not their approach.
Semler Scientific sees BTC as a reliable store of value due to its scarcity and resilient digital architecture. According to the company, it would even be a better investment than gold. In that respect, there is still plenty of growth in store for Bitcoin.

According to Bitcoin Treasuries, Semler Scientific is the twelfth largest publicly traded BTC holder in the world. The company that develops equipment for the medical industry.
MicroStrategy is of course head and shoulders above the rest with an unprecedented amount of 450,000 Bitcoins on its balance sheet. This is surprisingly followed by four different BTC miners, namely Marathon Digital Holdings, Riot Platforms, CleanSpark and Hut 8 Corp.
