Self-Denominated Heir to the Monarchy of Iran defends attacks by Israel

The son of Iran’s last shape, Reza Pahlavi, made a conference in Paris a few hours before the ceasefire between his former country and Israel. The reason: He believed that the Islamic Republic, who overthrew his father’s reign, was on the brink of collapse, and that the United States should not support peace to press the regime.

Pahlavi also asked the Iranians to take the streets in a kind of “fall of the Bastille” from Ali Khamenei’s government towards the reinstalling of the monarchy led by his family. The people of Iran, including the opposition, joined in defense of the country and demonstrated mutual solidarity amid Israeli attacks.

As he was willing to combine Israel to overthrow Khamenei, the population rejected him. It was a tough blow to the controversial image of the “heir”, causing a huge drop in its already low popularity.

For the few who still support him, Pahlavi would be a representation of a westernized and secular Iran, far from the current regime. His grandfather, Reza Khan, was a military officer who, with the support of Britain, gave the blow that dismissed the Qajar dynasty, who commanded the country from 1789 until his fall in 1925.

His reign was responsible for modernizing Iran politics and economically, but also created a centralized and highly authoritarian ethnic government. His son, Mohammad Reza, followed his father’s course, bringing his government closer to the United States and industrializing the country. The regime he commanded, however, was one of the most violent in Iran’s history. He created the intelligence agency responsible for arresting and torturing any political opponent of the monarchy.

Iran, led by Reza, impoverished and saw their rates of social inequality to shoot. For these reasons, the people supported the Iranian Revolution that settled in 1979 the current theocratic government led by Khamenei. Pahlavi, at the time 17, was in the USA learning to fly fighters. He never returned to his country.

In recent years, he approached Saeed Ghaseminejad, who works at the “Think Tank” Foundation for Defense of Democracies, an organization of the American right that often publishes analyzes calling the United States to use military strength to contain Iran’s regional influence and destroy its nuclear program.

Through him, Pahlavi allied with Trump and Netanyahu, supporting the US “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran. Politics cut several economic ties and made it difficult to enter the country, causing high inflation and impoverishment of middle and low classes.
