Japan will soon take a major step into the crypto world. According to SBI CEO Yoshitaka Kitao, all banks in Japan will use Ripple’s XRP token by 2025.
This announcement closely follows a prediction made by Yoshitaka Kitao in 2023, when Kitao said that XRP would play a dominant role in Japan’s banking sector by 2025. At the time, he pointed to the growing integration of Ripple’s technologies, such as xRapid and RippleNet, by major companies in the country.
This vision may now become a reality as nationwide adoption of XRP will play a crucial role in Japan’s future financial infrastructure.
Legal victory removes obstacles to XRP adoption
The timing of this announcement is no coincidence. The adoption was made possible by Ripple Labs’ recent legal victory in their dispute with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In 2023, Judge Analisa Torres ruled that programmatic sales of XRP on exchanges do not fall under securities laws.
Last week, the fine for directly selling XRP to institutional investors was significantly reduced, ending a four-year legal battle. This legal breakthrough has removed the uncertainty surrounding XRP and paved the way for broader adoption.
Analysts are optimistic
With all the positive XRP news, analysts are predicting a promising future for the coin. After a significant price increase of almost 20%, crypto analyst XRP Shark predicts that the digital coin may experience a parabolic growth, with its value rising to $20-$33 by 2025.
If this forecast comes true, it would represent growth of thousands of percent from its current value. The analyst expects this increase to be possible now that countries and companies, partly due to regulatory clarity, can adopt XRP en masse, as we are already seeing in Japan.
