It will be in Seville and it will be earlier than expected. The 41st Federal Congress of the PSOE will take place next November, almost a year earlier than stipulated by the statutes. Pedro Sánchez has decided to accelerate the deadlines for organic renewal in order to be able to promote new territorial leaderships in some key places in the next electoral cycle as soon as possible. And all eyes are on Andalusia first and foremost.

The decision to bring forward the Congress, as The Objective announced, and the fact that it will be held in Seville already send a political message. The elections to the Junta are scheduled for June 2026 and Ferraz’s intention is to arrive at that meeting this time, and unlike the last time, with minimal options of being able to battle President Juanma Moreno. And that is why Andalusia is one of the socialist federations most likely to face a more profound renewal.

The party’s plans include calling a federal committee on the first weekend of September, in which the debate on the renewal of leadership can also be addressed. With the legislature on standby due to the lack of a parliamentary majority in Congress after Junts’ withdrawal, Ferraz and Moncloa are activating the political machinery to try to provide political content to a mandate marked mainly by concessions to Catalonia, with the amnesty law and the singular financing pact.

In this context, the Socialists consider it essential to provide greater electoral competitiveness to many territories where the PSOE suffered resounding electoral defeats in the last cycle of regional elections. And that is why Pedro Sánchez has brought forward the Congress to next November.
