Kremlin sees evidence of Ukrainian involvement in an explosion of car bombs that killed high-ranking military man. If it resembles other attacks claimed by Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion of its territory.

A car bomb attack in Balashikha, a suburb of Moscow, killed a high-ranking Russian general, Russian officials reported on Friday (25/04), describing what happened as a terrorist attack and accusing Ukraine of being behind him.

There are similarities to previous murders claimed by Ukraine since the large -scale Russian invasion of its territory in February 2022.

Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik, 59, died when a Volkswagen Golf vehicle exploded after the imprisonable explosive explosive device, the Russian investigative committee in Moscow said.

He was deputy chief of the main operational board of the Armed Forces Staff, responsible for Russian military operations. According to a Kremlin portal, Moskalik represented his country in ceasefire negotiations with Ukraine in 2015 amid conflict between Russia-backed separatists in the Ukrainian East.

The explosion occurred near an apartment building. Nearby were the charred wreckage of a white car with the front front. Safety cameras images published by Izvestia newspaper show a huge explosion throwing fragments through the air. At the time of detonation, a person appears walking toward the car.

Suspects fall on Ukraine

The investigators said the attackers triggered a makeshift explosive device full of metal fragments, designed to cause maximum damage.

According to the Investigative News Portal Agentstvo, citing leaked information, Moskalik lived in Balashikha, but the vehicle involved in the attack was not registered in his name.

Russian channels from the Telegram Message Application with links to the police authorities published unconfirmed reports that the car had been bought a few months ago by a Ukrainian city man of Sumy and was loaded with explosives. He would be parked in front of the building a few days ago and equipped with a camera. The Russian press reported that the latest vehicle owner was a Ukrainian who had obtained Russian citizenship a few years ago.

Russian Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described what happened as a terrorist attack behind which Kiev would be: “There are reasons to believe that Ukraine’s special services were involved in the murder.”

Russian Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said the case was handed over to the president of the powerful investigation body, Alexander Bastrykin.

Attacks on Russian soil

Kiev, so far, has not commented on the attack, which brings characteristics similar to previous attacks on military figures and high -ranking Kremlin supporters since the Ukraine Russian invasion.

Ukraine classified as “legitimate targets” some of the authorities killed in the attacks, admitting that the attacks occurred as retaliation for the Moscow military offensive, which has already resulted in tens of thousands of deaths.

In December, Russian General Igor Kirillov was killed in an explosion later claimed by the Ukraine Intelligence Service. The device that killed the 54 -year -old man, one of the most important figures behind the war, was placed in an electric scooter in front of his home. The investigators ranked the explosion, which also killed a Kirillov advisor as a terrorist attack.
