“After two full years of President Milei’s administration in the Nation and our government in the Province, Mendoza is among the jurisdictions with the best performance in registered private employment in the entire country,” the Governor published on his social network account
However, a “small detail” did not go unnoticed: despite occupying third place, the balance of jobs registered in the province is negative. The Governor himself published the graph where it can be seen that the province lost 0.6% of registered jobs in that period.
The Governor’s unusual “celebration” was harshly criticized on social networks. Lautaro Jiménez, teacher and leader of the PTS in the Left Front, responded by publishing that “The Governor publishes a report with a negative figure on the evolution of employment in Mendoza.” “His skills in mathematics are equal to his skills as an economist,” he concluded mockingly.
📉The Governor releases a report with a negative figure on the evolution of employment in Mendoza and celebrates it by saying: “While in a large part of the country private employment declines, in Mendoza it is sustained and strengthened.”

For his part, Mailé Rodríguez, also a teacher and leader of the Mendoza left, recalled that the employment figures in the province “are not auspicious, they are assimilated with 2018-2020 (crisis/pandemic).”
Cornejo, who at all costs presents himself as Milei’s best student, celebrating and accompanying each attack on working people, celebrates that employment is destroyed less than in other provinces, while in Mendoza the social and economic crisis is becoming more evident every day. According to the latest measurements by Indec, in Greater Mendoza there are 44 thousand unemployed people and the number of people who, having a job, are looking for another to make ends meet has grown considerably: 18% of Mendoza’s men and women who have a job are actively looking for another.
While the Governor applauds the national government and highlights figures that reveal the deepening of the crisis, the mobilization against the policies of Cornejo and Milei is strengthening in the streets. Mobilizations in defense of water and glaciers continue to be massive, despite the systematic repression and media censorship imposed by the Government. This Saturday, the fight against the San Jorge mining company and in defense of the Glacier Law will converge with the women’s movement, social organizations, students and unions in the traditional Contracarrusel de la Vendimia.
There, along with the socio-environmental assemblies and women and diversity organizations, students from the UNCuyo inter-faculty assembly, retirees, education workers who have been facing the closure of courses and defending their salaries, and wine workers who stopped this Friday against the poor wages offered by the wineries will mobilize.
