Mobile video shows that Israeli troops killed 15 Palestinian rescuers, despite emergency lights and sirens marking their vehicles as ambulances
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has published images of a deadly, mobile phone Palestinian paramedic, refuting Israel’s account of why his soldiers opened fire on an ambulance train and a fire truck on March 23, killing 15 people from rescue teams.
The video shows the vehicles moving in the dark with their linked headlights and emergency lights. The Israeli forces then opened fire on the vehicles for several minutes.
Initially, the Israeli army denied that the vehicles had the headlights or emergency signs lit when their forces opened fire against them.
At least two rescuers can be seen coming out of vehicles wearing reflective clothing. The rescuer who films the video with his phone is heard reciting Islamic prayers before being killed.
A rescuer can be heard in the video saying, “Forgive me, mom. I just wanted to help people. I wanted to save lives.”
During the attack, Israeli forces killed eight PRCS paramedics, six Gaza Civil Defense workers and an UN employee. The Israeli troops buried their bodies and the vehicles destroyed in a shallow ditch dug into the sand.
The cell phone containing the video was found in one of the bodies.

The video confirms the testimony of the paramedic Munther Abed.
“During the day and night, this is the same. External and internal lights are lit. It seems that it is an ambulance vehicle that belongs to the crescent Palestinian red. All lights were lit until the vehicle was under direct fire,” Abed told BBC.
He also denied that he or his team had any connection to Palestinian resistance groups, such as Hamas or the Islamic Jihad Palestinian (PIJ).
“All teams are civilians. We do not belong to any militant group. Our main duty is to offer ambulance services and save lives from people. Not even less,” he said.
Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said without evidence that several Hamas and PIJ fighters were killed in the incident.
“IDF did not attack an ambulance randomly,” he tried to claim.
The Israeli army prevented the PRCS from accessing the scene of the murder for eight days.
A paramedic, identified as Assad, is still missing.
On Friday, PRCS President Dr. Youis Al-Khatib showed the video to journalists during a press conference held at UN headquarters in New York.
“We were praying that they were alive. They kept us in the dark for eight days. Now, the only information we have is that Assad is missing. But there is someone who knows if Assad has been killed elsewhere or if Assad is detained in Israeli arrests,” Khatib said.
PRCS Vice President Marwan Jilani said: “I believe that the scale of this crime should force, forcing the international community to do more and not accept that this is another incident that goes to the archives and will be forgotten after a few days.”
Jagan Chapagain, secretary-general of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Curities, made the funeral compliment of the dead doctors, stating: “Their ambulances were crushed and partially buried. Nearby were their bodies-also buried, in the sand. Our dead colleagues still wore their red-crescent vests. In life, these uniforms signaled their status as humanitarian workers; They should have protected them instead, in death, these red vests have become their shots. ”
