The United States and Ukraine are close to signing an agreement on the exploration of rare land materials, with the signed signature for next Saturday, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

According to the publication, although the agreement is not yet completely finalized, it may be signed soon, although the exact details of the pact have not been revealed.

Speed ​​on Friday during a conversation with journalists at the Oval Hall, US President Donald Trump commented on the possible deal with Ukraine. “I think they want that. They feel good about it, ”said Trump, implying that the negotiations were at an advanced stage.

In turn, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke on his channel on Telegram, expressing positive expectations about the agreement. “We expect a fair result,” said Zelensky.

He added that the agreement could “strengthen our relationships,” but emphasized the importance of working on details to ensure its effectiveness. The Ukrainian President also showed optimism, claiming to be “anxious for the result – a fair result.”

The history of negotiations between the two countries on this theme dates back to February this year. On February 12, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent delivered a draft according to his visit to Kiev.

However, Zelensky did not sign the document at that time, even during the meeting with US Vice President Jd Vance at the Munich Security Conference days later.

Instead, the Ukrainian delegation presented a revised version of the agreement, which included amendment proposals. However, the United States authorities decided not to consider the changes suggested by Ukraine. The lack of consensus on these terms has led to an increase in tensions between the two countries in recent weeks.

President Trump, in recent comments, made hard criticism of Zelensky, calling him a “dictator” and accusing him of obstructing the agreement on rare land materials. Zelensky, in turn, reacted, suggesting that Trump was being the target of “Russian misinformation.”

The interest of the United States in Ukraine’s rare land metals was highlighted in early February, when Trump mentioned Washington’s interest in obtaining these resources from the European country. Zelensky, for his part, indicated his willingness to negotiate and suggested that the outcome of discussions about the agreement could be achieved during the Munich Security Conference, which took place between February 14 and 16.

However, the discussions in Munich did not lead to an agreement. During the event, Kiev authorities rejected a US proposal involving United States help to Ukraine in exchange for a Washington right to 50% of the country’s rare land metals.

Zelensky also pointed out that the US proposal did not include safety guarantees, which generated an impasse. In response, the Ukrainian government said it was working on a counter -proposal to resolve pending issues.

The possible agreement on rare land materials arises in a moment of growing global interest in these resources, essential for various technologies, including electronics, renewable energy and weapons.
