Actor Pedro Pascal attacked author JK Rowling in X, calling her “heinous loser” after the Supreme Court’s decision.
Pascal responded to a comment reporting the words of activist Tariq Ra’ouf in an Instagram video, in which he asked people to boycott the work of Rowling.
“It has become our mission as a general public to ensure that everything related to Harry Potter fails… because this horrible and disgusting shit has consequences.”
Pascal enjoyed the publication and wrote: “A horrible and disgusting shit, that’s exactly that. Behavior of a heinous loser.”
Responding to the interaction on Instagram, Ra’ouf applauded Pascal and said he also felt the “immense pain” of the silence of other celebrities.
Pascal is a staunch defender of LGBTQ+ rights and is often accompanied on the red carpet by his transgender sister, Lux.
Rowling attracted some negative reactions for a photograph she posted last week, smoking a cigar on a yacht with the caption: “I love it when a plan works.”
This occurred after the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, based in London, decided that the terms “woman” and “sex” in the law of equality refer to a biological woman and biological sex. The action to determine this was filed by For Women Scotland, a campaign group that filed a lawsuit against the Scottish government, which argued that sex -based protections should only apply to women -born women.
Rowling wrote in the X: “It took three extraordinary and tenacious Scottish women, with an army behind them, so that this case was heard by the Supreme Court and, when they overcome, they protected the rights of women and girls throughout the UK,” adding: “For the women of Scotland, I am very proud to know them.”
In February, Pascal shared the phrase: “a world without trans people never existed and will never exist,” on Instagram, dividing his followers. After some threatened to stop following him, he reiterated his position, writing, “I can’t think of anything more vile, small and pathetic than terrorizing the smallest and most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you except the right to exist.”
Earlier this week, he wore a T-shirt with the words: “Protect the Dolls” at Marvel’s Thunderbolts* London debut, part of a pro-trans campaign by American designer Conner Ives.
Some members of the HBO’s new HBO HBO series have suffered online abuse in response to their involvement. However, all three main actors revealed so far have also played LGBTQ+ striking papers. John Lithgow, who will play Albus Dumbledore, was widely acclaimed by his acting as a transgender woman in “The World Second Garp” of 1982.
Janet McTer, who assumes the role of Professor McGonagall, played a trans man in Albert Nobbs, 2011, while Paapa Essiedu (cast as Professor Snape) frequently interpreted queer roles, especially in I May Destroy You and the short film Femme, in which she played a gay drag artist.
The filming of the series starts later this year. The cast of the main characters has not yet been announced.
