The day dawned with the calm that shows our strength, that of the transportation workers. Despite the Railway Union, the city woke up without trains running. The subways stopped and the planes were grounded. Waste collection was left for tomorrow, as were many services provided by the Truckers. Along with this, there was a strike by Ademys and SUTEBA teachers.
The movements of the unemployed were part of the day with cuts and mobilizations. And teachers and states also joined the measure. From classist transport groups and other unions we have been part of this day. A demonstration of forces against the Milei government made by the workers. In it it was more than clear that there is a desire to confront the employers and Milei. It was also seen in the march of thousands of AFIP workers on Tuesday. They are seen in the students and in the persistence of the retirees, they are seen in the Health colleagues of Bonaparte and Garrahan and residents.
The UTA did not surprise anyone by not stopping in common with the other transport unions and on top of that it once again lifted its own measure of force announced for this Thursday. Together with the Sasia Railway Union and signalmen, they are the main drivers and responsible for the fact that it was not a major fighting action like it was on May 9.
However, those who did call for the strike do not seek to defeat Milei either. They call for isolated measures and do everything possible to ensure that it is not unified with other sectors such as health, students who came to mass mobilizations in defense of public education or retirees. Much less with the millions of precarious people who are informal and have no organization to defend themselves. And above all, they do not propose any continuity to have a plan of struggle that allows us to defeat the government with its poverty salaries and layoffs, to defeat the attempt to privatize Airlines and the attack on education and health. They are part of those who direct the CGT who did not continue this year’s general strikes while a part of the CGT negotiated the labor reform and let the adjustment pass. Milei attacks these leaders: but he does so not because they surrender rights, but because they were forced to take a measure, which, although isolated, is against their government and its plan.
But the policy of those who called for the strike is not to defeat Milei but at most to “wear him down” and wait for next year’s elections with limited fighting activities to help Peronism. Again the same chant that led us not to confront Macri with everything so that Alberto Fernandez comes. And so we finish.
The last straw was Maturano from La Fraternidad who said that privatization would not be so bad.
We must have and fight for another policy. First, impose on the leaders who called for today’s strike that it continue with new measures. It would be a step, but it will not be enough for the proposed fight because what it is about is defeating Milei and for that we need to deploy all our strength.
Assemblies or meetings must be held with the activism that wants to fight in the workplace to organize the most forceful fight, unite all the demands in a single fight. For this, it is necessary to regroup unions, internal and anti-bureaucratic delegates together with all the combative and activist sectors of each union or workplace. Either we defeat Milei together or he and the bosses defeat us separately.
To prevent this, workers must decide on measures that grow and coordinate with other sectors, until a general strike is imposed. Our objective must be to come up with a serious fighting plan that unites all the sectors attacked by the government and the bosses until they are defeated.
That is the perspective for which we fight from the Classist Groups in transportation and in other unions.
