In the early hours of Thursday, a shooting occurred near the Amazura nightclub, in Queens, New York, resulting in ten young people being injured. The incident happened around 11:20 pm local time, involving a group of four men who attacked people queuing to enter the establishment.
The victims, ages 16 to 20, were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. According to police, six women and four men were among the injured.
The investigation into the case does not consider the possibility of terrorism, as reported by Philip Rivera, chief of patrol for the New York police. The motivations for the attack are still under investigation.
Witnesses reported that approximately 90 people were present at a private event at the nightclub, while another 15 were waiting in line outside at the time of the shooting. The preliminary investigation indicates that the shooters approached on foot and fired around 30 shots towards the line.
The suspects fled on foot and later got into a vehicle with out-of-state license plates, according to police. Authorities are conducting searches and are appealing for information that could lead to the capture of those responsible for the attack.
