The Israeli plans for the total takeover of Ciudad de Gaza and the southern expulsion of the million of the million inhabitants that house continues. Prime Minister Benjamín Netanyahu has retired on Thursday the military plan to occupy Ciudad de Gaza, while he has ordered his team to initiate negotiations for a possible truce with the Palestinian group Hamás.

“We are in the decision -making phase. I arrived today at the Gaza Division (from the Israeli Army) to approve the plans that the Israel Defense Forces presented to me and the Minister of Defense to take Ciudad de Gaza and defeat Hamas,” he said in a video statement. “At the same time, I ordered to initiate immediate negotiations for the liberation of all our hostages and the end of war in acceptable terms for Israel,” he added.

Netanyahu thus responds to the proposal of agreement made by the Arab mediators, Egypt and Qatar, which Hamas already accepted on Monday. The prime minister has not clarified whether or not he accepts the terms of the agreement for a high fire in Gaza and the release of about ten hostages alive and other dead (about 50 kidnapped in the hands of the Palestinian militias, of which only twenty would be alive).

Israeli negotiators now have instructions to establish contacts with mediators, but it is very difficult for conversations to lead to an agreement, which has been impossible in the past months, since last March Israel broke the high fire with Hamas unilaterally.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army has begun to contact the telephone with doctors and NGO personnel to claim that they go to the south in anticipation of the exodus of inhabitants of Ciudad de Gaza, according to a statement. “I get in touch with you in relation to the possibility that the army enters the city of Gaza. A complete evacuation of Gaza will be produced towards the south of the strip,” indicate the Israel Defense Forces (FDI) in these calls.

“I ask you to prepare a plan to move the medical team from north to the south, so that you can serve all patients in the south of the strip and prepare hospitals to receive patients who arrive from the north,” is heard in an alleged call – with the distorted voice – between an Israeli officer and a Gazati health official.

The preparations of the last days have been an increase in attacks, whose intensity remained on Wednesday: at least 70 Gazati died Wednesday for Israeli attacks in the strip, according to the daily report of the Ministry of Health of the Enclave, which specified that 18 of the victims lost their lives while looking for humanitarian aid.

In addition, 356 people arrived wounded on Wednesday to the hospitals of the Gaza Strip, 117 of them reached by shooting while trying to receive food at the distribution points of the controversial Humanitarian Foundation for Gaza (GHF are its acronym in English) or at the crossings where the few UN trucks and other organizations that reach the enclave pass.

Israel considers that Ciudad de Gaza, in the third of the strip and city most populated in the enclave, the last bastion of the Palestinian group Hamás. The organization denounced in a statement that the announcement of the invasion at the time a new fire was negotiated demonstrates “the contempt of [Benjamin] Netanyahu [el primer ministro israelí] for the proposal of the mediators … and shows that he is the real obstacle to any agreement ”

The United Nations Agencies and other humanitarian organizations have alerted the serious consequences of the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of people to the coastal areas of the South, where the displaced camps are already saturated because they welcome the inhabitants of many of the localities that Israel has been occupying since the beginning of the war.

It is estimated that almost all of the more than two million inhabitants of Gaza have been displaced one or more times at this time, and their houses are destroyed or cannot return to them because they are in areas considered “combat” by the Israeli army. The troops control about 75% of the strip and more than 80% is not accessible to civilians, which have been cornered in increasingly small areas in the center and south of the coastal enclave.

More than 62,000 Gazatis have been killed since the beginning of the Israeli offensive in response to Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023.
