Metaplanet is going to pick up $ 5 billion to buy more bitcoin

The Japanese investment company Metaplanet is working on a striking mission: collecting as much Bitcoin (BTC) as possible. Where it started earlier before, the company now seems to give gas. With a new subsidiary in the United States, Metaplanet wants to raise no less than $ 5 billion to put in Bitcoin.

Step by step to billions in BTC

In an official announcement, Metaplanet says that it wants to invest a maximum of $ 5 billion in the Bitcoin reserve of his American subsidiary. That company opened its doors last month. The money must come from a share issue, but it does not happen in one go. New shares are in phases on the market, depending on how attractive the moment is.

Whether it succeeds remains the question. If the market conditions are disappointing or investors are not eager, Metaplanet can adjust the plan or weaken the investment. So for now it remains an ambitious plan – no guarantee.

Yet it is interesting to see what it could mean. At a rate of around $ 105,000 per bitcoin, $ 5 billion would be enough to buy around 47,619 BTC. That is more than four times as much as Metaplanet now owns. Yesterday the company reported that it now holds 11,111 BTC, including 1,111 pieces that the net bought for $ 117 million.

New goal: 210,000 BTC in 2027

Metaplanet thinks big. Where it first aimed at 10,000 BTC-a goal that has since been achieved-it is now aiming for a stock of 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027. The company would place that in one fell swoop at the top of global Bitcoin investors.

Why the step to America?

The extension to the US is not just like that. Metaplanet wants to get in touch with large American investors, such as pension funds and asset managers. They could invest in the shares of the American daughter. At the same time, it offers an opportunity to set up a global network for cross -border payments in Bitcoin. Via the American branch, the company could easily transfer BTC between Japan and Miami – without the intervention of banks.

Metaplanet makes it clear that it is serious about Bitcoin. It not only looks at price gain, but builds step by step on a strategy in which BTC plays a key role for the future.
