The Japanese metaplanet has again made a substantial Bitcoin (BTC) purchase and adds 775 BTC to its portfolio. The company does not care about current volatility and continues to expand the Bitcoin reserves.

New purchase and growing holdings

According to a report of August 18, Metaplanet bought 775 BTC worth around 93 million dollars. The average purchase price was $ 120.006 per coin. This means that the total assets of the company rise to 18,888 BTC, accounting for around 1.94 billion dollars at the current market price.

The company reports a year-on-year profit on their Bitcoin position of 480 percent and a quarter-on-quarter return of 29.3 percent. CEO Simon Gerovich emphasized in a message on X that holds Metaplanet to his Bitcoin strategy. “18,888 BTC. Vooruit and up.”

Ambition towards 1% of Bitcoin offer

Metaplanet has the ambition to hold 1 percent of the total Bitcoin offer by 2027, or 210,000 BTC. In 2025 the purchase pace was considerably increased. In the third quarter alone, the company bought around 5,556 BTC. These purchases were financed through a combination of stock issues, debts and yields from stock options.

Earlier this month, Metaplanet announced plans to collect 555 billion Yen ($ 3.8 billion) by the issue of special by-bitcoin-covered shares in the next two years. In the short term, the company will aim at 30,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 100,000 BTC in 2026. After the last purchase of 775 BTC, 11.112 BTC will remain to achieve this year’s goal.

In the meantime, the BTC rate is around $ 115,000, a decrease of more than 3 percent in the last 24 hours. This means that the race has dropped considerably after the recent peak above 124,000 dollars.
