The founder of the meme coin Truth or Dare (DARE), Mikol, recently decided to stop his project. This comes five months after he seriously burned himself during a stunt to generate attention for his memecoin. Mikol had previously performed several stunts in an attempt to promote his meme coin. But one of these stunts ended dramatically.
Stunts to increase popularity
The popularity stunts were streamed live by Mikol, as he went further and further to increase the value of his token. However, during one of these live streams, things went completely wrong: Mikol doused himself with isopropyl alcohol and had fireworks shot at him, resulting in third-degree burns over 30% of his body.
Mikol was initially keen to continue his project from his hospital bed, but now he plans to withdraw from the crypto world. He announces this via X.
“I’m not the DARE dev anymore. My name is Mikol and I am human. I just want to get out of trouble like you. I just want to be happy and successful.”
Disappointment and internal problems
Mikol’s decision to retire is not only due to his injuries, but also due to problems within his team. He accuses team members of taking advantage of DARE’s success and then leaving, leading to further disappointment.
During his recovery, DARE’s stock price remained volatile. Although the coin reached a market cap of millions at its peak, Mikol personally saw little profit from this, apart from a $3,000 donation for his medical expenses.
Mikol’s future plans
Strangely enough, he has no regrets about the actions that landed him in the hospital. However, he believes he has become more aware of the harsh reality within the crypto world. According to him, everything revolves around money and little about real cooperation or trust. He indicates that he now wants to shift his focus to building an online personality without destructive and harmful stunts.
