The city of Rio de Janeiro participates in BTL 2026 in Lisbon to promote destinations, attract investments and strengthen its presence in international tourism

Maricá City Hall will be present at yet another international tourism showcase. Through Maricá, Arte, Roteiros e Visãos (MARÉ), the municipality participates, between February 25th and March 1st, in the 36th edition of Better Tourism Lisbon Travel Market (BTL), the largest tourism fair in Portugal and one of the most relevant in Europe. The strategy adds to the city’s international and cultural projection, with the rise of the União de Maricá to the Special Group, taking the city’s name to the most important stage of the world carnival.

For the president of MARÉ, Antonio Grassi, Maricá’s presence at BTL reaffirms the strategy of positioning the municipality on the international tourism circuit. “Maricá has a strong cultural identity, authentic experiences and structured projects for the development of tourism. Being at BTL means expanding connections, attracting investments and showing the world the city’s potential as a tourist and creative destination”, he highlighted.

With a stand in Brazil – a country that participates in the fair as an International Guest Destination –, Maricá will present visitors with a portfolio of projects aimed at developing tourism, with a focus on attracting international investments, generating jobs and strengthening the local economy. At the stand, the public will be able to discover AMAR products, tourist attractions in the city and participate in cultural activities that reflect the identity and diversity of the municipality.

This set of actions is supported by a package of structural projects being implemented in the municipality, such as the Inoã and Ponta Negra cable cars, the Samba, Futebol and Caipirinha Complex, the New Bus Station, the Maria Fumaça tourist train and the Colonial Square, the Port of Maricá, the architectural projects of Oscar Niemeyer, the Maraey Tourist Complex and the implementation of 3 and 4 star hotels.

Maricá’s participation in BTL 2026 reinforces the municipality’s presence on the international scene and highlights its tourist and economic potential.
