President details advances in the bilateral relationship with the European country and states that its role in international travel is to bring companies and investors closer, indicate opportunities and competitive advantages from the country
A group of about 15 great French businessmen with business in Brazil in various sectors announced the prospect of investing R $ 100 billion in Brazil by 2030. The signage was endorsed by a press conference granted by President Lula on Saturday (7/6) in Paris. Lula was meeting with the businessmen on Friday (6/6), in one of the agendas he fulfilled in the French capital. This Saturday, he went to Nice, where he fulfills the sequence of the commitments of the visit to the European country.
“We are taking back to Brazil the commitment of the 15 largest French investors, who already have a company in Brazil, of in the next five years we have an investment of 100 billion. This is the news,” summarized Lula. For him, this is the function that is expected of a president on international travel: approaching companies and investors, indicating opportunities and competitive advantages of the country.
We need to learn that one of the president’s roles is to make things happen. It is not to negotiate, it is to create conditions for our entrepreneurs, the entrepreneurs of the countries we visit, can meet, know, exchange ideas, build partnerships ”, commented
France is the third largest origin of direct investments in Brazil, with $ 66.34 billion in stock. In 2024, the commercial current between Brazil and France reached $ 9.1 billion, 8% growth compared to the previous year. It is estimated that more than 1,000 French companies act in Brazil, being directly responsible for the generation of about 500,000 jobs in the Brazilian market.
For Lula, there is a lot of margin to broaden this flow.
It is a shame that a country the size of Brazil, eighth economy in the world, and a country the size of France, which is the fifth or Friday, only has a flow of $ 9 billion. It’s little. We have with Vietnam, which is much more recent to our relationship, 13 billion dollars of commercial flow. So, I was very happy that these 15 French businessmen asked the meeting with me. Brazil needs to put itself as a large country. We are no less than anyone, ”he said
Helicopter
Another point of the economic agenda dealt with meetings in France was the possibility of strengthening an agreement for helicopter production at Helibras headquarters in Itajubá (MG). “Brazil has the only helicopter factory in Latin America. We are interested in an agreement with France so that we can produce helicopters to meet the needs of public safety, health, defense and the environment,” explained the president. “If you build a large package, you can have a large helicopter factory in Brazil in Brazil to serve Latin America, Africa and who knows other countries, as we do with Embraer’s KC-390, which today is sold in almost every country in the world,” said Lula, in a reference to the Brazilian company’s freighter aircraft.
20 atos
During the press conference, Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira reinforced other points that connect with potential investments in Brazil from the agendas in France, which resulted in 20 acts signed between the two nations. “It is evident that the bilateral relationship has undergone a densification in recent years, through numerous new initiatives in the areas of Science, Technology, Innovation, Environment, Food Safety, Education and Health. Brazil develops with important projects in state areas, such as the Geostationary Satellite of Communications and the Santos Dumont supercomputer. That this year begins to finance joint research, ”said Vieira.
Certification
In the economic field, the minister also recorded the certification of Brazil as a free country of foot -and -mouth -free fever, a document delivered by the World Animal Health Organization in Paris. The measure has the potential to further expand markets for the sale of Brazilian animal protein. Vieira also stressed important health measures that strengthen cooperation for the development of vaccines and laboratory products. “Fiocruz, our state -of -the -art institution, has established new partnerships with French institutions, including the Pasteur Institute.”
