The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva must make a phone call with the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petrothis Wednesday, the 14th, to discuss the situation of the electoral process in Venezuela.
The conversation, scheduled for the afternoon, takes place one day after the president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obradordeclare that it will suspend discussions on the Venezuelan crisis with Lula and Petro, while awaiting a position from Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela (TSJ) about the recent election.
Brazilian diplomatic sources told the G1 that Mexico’s withdrawal from the negotiations makes it easier for the talks to move forward. Originally scheduled for Tuesday the 13th, the call was postponed due to commitments in Petro’s schedule.
In addition, a trip by the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs is scheduled, Mauro Vieirato Bogotá this Wednesday, where he will meet with the Colombian foreign minister, Luis Gilberto Murilloon Thursday, the 15th, to define joint strategies related to Venezuela.
This diplomatic move comes at a time of deepening political crisis in Venezuela, marked by the re-election of President Nicolás Maduro, in an electoral process that has been widely questioned.
