The organizations Earshot and Forensic Architecture reconstructed the minute by minute of a massacre committed by the Israeli army in Tel al-Sultan almost a year ago, shortly after Israel broke the ceasefire, when they fired almost a thousand bullets at humanitarian workers from the Palestinian Red Crescent, the Palestinian Civil Defense and the UN who were seeking to provide assistance to the victims of an Israeli bombing. The full report can be accessed on this page.
As they were able to reconstruct based on different sources, including cell phone recordings, audiovisual records, the wounds caused to the victims’ bodies and the testimony of the few surviving witnesses, the soldiers of the Zionist army attacked an ambulance in the early morning hours even though it was fully identified and with the siren on. Then they remained in ambush on a sandbank and attacked by surprise several more vehicles – including other ambulances -, also perfectly identified, which went to the aid of the first. In total 8 vehicles were riddled.
The soldiers eventually came down from their position, approached the vehicles while continuing to fire, and finally fired directly at the aid workers at point-blank range, even from just one meter away. A real execution.
As soon as the massacre was over, the troops were busy digging a mass grave in which they placed the vehicles and bodies of the victims, trying to hide the evidence of the crime committed. However, on March 27, Anwar al-Attar’s body was found near the site and on the 30th the grave was finally found, which provided key evidence for reaching the obvious conclusion of this massacre today.
For its part, the Israeli army sought at all times to first dissociate its participation in the massacre and then claim that they had acted in āself-defense,ā against all evidence. Along the way, they changed their story about the events again and again, trying to cover up their genocidal actions.
After trying to hide the disaster in a mass grave, the army first built a checkpoint on the site, making it difficult to reach the area, and then a distribution center for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, known for having played a macabre role in shooting at Gazans who were heading there to look for food at the time of the greatest famine that hit the Strip.
Now Trump intends to take a new step in the colonial occupation of Gaza with the reactionary āPeace Boardā, denying the Palestinians any rights to their own land and their future. They seek to enshrine impunity for these crimes committed as part of the genocide carried out by the Israeli army.
