Beyond the low participation, the results of the election cannot be alien to the working class. Freedom Advances took advantage Trump’s rescue, the fear of collapse and the PJ’s crisis to win the vote. The passivization and moderation strategy of the PJ and Fuerza Patria failed. A good part of the responsibility lies with the Peronist union leaders, the CGT and the CTA.
for two years the CGT was complicit in the adjustment. He called three strikes that showed the enormous strength and unrest of the workers, but he did so to decompress and did not give them continuity. He accepted downward parities and layoffs and kept the working class divided. The most precarious sectors were the ones that lost the most. The CTA made more confrontational speeches but did not take its feet off the plate. That is why both ended up promoting the lists of Fuerza Patria and the PJ throughout the country. Much of the working class turned its back on them.
That strategy of passivization and moderation, and in many cases of open betrayal, played into the hands of the right. Not even the government’s crisis and its parliamentary defeats were used to deal a real blow where it hurts Milei and the businessmen: the streets and the conflicts where it is at stake who pays for the crisis.
The workers have You have to take note of what happened and why. Otherwise it is impossible to think how to stop the collapse that the different governments are leading us to and the deep attack that Milei, the IMF and big businessmen are proposing.
But far from resignation to which the leadership of the PJ and the CGT drag us, We must put the working class on its feet. We must unite the millions who have said no to the government in different ways. We must unite what bureaucracies divide. We cannot sit idly by. Waiting for 2027, as they told us in the campaign, in addition to being criminal, is already a joke in bad taste.
From the Left Front we were in the streets these two years (and before too). We fought against the adjustment and that passivity. That is why we received the support of hundreds of thousands of workers, women, retirees and young people who saw us as the best option against the right. That is why the lists headed by Del Caño, Bregman, Vilca and dozens of fightersthey brought in national deputies from the AMBA and got 10% in Jujuy. Those benches will be at the service of what is to come.
But to stop the reforms and attacks that Milei and Trump announce, we have to help organize a force capable of confronting them. Relying on the combative sectors that never compromised (workers, pensioners, women’s movement and youth), but calling for unity to all who do not want to follow the disastrous policy that the CGT had until now. To the unions, internal commissions, delegated bodies that do not support (or are willing to break) with that strategy.
Because the support of Trump and Yankee imperialism will not be free: they want to redouble the looting in Argentina and Latin America. That is why our fight is linked to the Latin American peoples, the indigenous peoples, the socio-environmental organizations, the women’s and diversities movement and those who face exploitation and oppression.
We are sure that there will be millions of people who will want to oppose these attacks. Leaving everything in the hands of the bureaucracy is a loss. That is why we have to actively organize for that, in every union, workplace and study place throughout the country.
There are comrades and organizations that have shown a willingness to confront the government, not only in Buenos Aires but in Rosario, Neuquén, Jujuy and other provinces. But the severity of the crisis forces us to activate, to put these organizations at the service of the resistance, outside of any bureaucratic agenda. Otherwise they will be powerless and giving in to the anti-worker conviction of the right.
It’s them or us.
In the face of such a crisis, a meeting of the left alone is not enough, which will be useful to the extent that it considers reaching the thousands of comrades who want to fight throughout the country. We have to set up a coordination of all those who want to resist. National and regional coordinators and all spaces that allow all these sectors to be united based on a series of fighting measures.
Over there, From the classist sectors we are going to propose a program of strugglewhich defends salaries, ends layoffs and precariousness; that rejects labor and retirement reforms; to break with the IMF and imperialism, starting with the non-payment of the debt; that rejects the plundering of our natural commons and the surrender.
From the PTS on the Left Front we will be in every fight and every space of unity for the fight. We know that it is not enough. In the heat of the resistance we have to debate how we build a great political force, a party of workerswhich will confront the advance of the right and the decline of Peronism, fighting for a working-class solution to the country’s crisis.
